Re: 2025 USRA Indoor Nationals

OK, this just in: USRA announced 5 in-person sites for the 2025 Indoor National Championships: Atlanta Erg Sprints, NW Ergomania! (Tacoma), Pittsburgh Indoor Championships, South Side Smackdown (Chicago), Tennessee Indoor Championships (Chattanooga). All competitions to be held on Saturday, February...

Re: 2025 USRA Indoor Nationals

Just learned from official Alexandria ErgSprints sources that they will NOT be part of the USRA Indoor Championships this year. Too many technical requirements. We are less than 3 months away from the announced February 1 date. Would be nice to know if we will have any in-person options. Pittsburgh?...

Re: Age categories, USRowing--again

It would take USRA almost no effort to keep these age categories. Why limit competition/participation in any way? Isn't age a part of USRA's stated goal of inclusivity? Further, the rationale that indoor and outdoor age categories should match is lame: They are very different athletic endeavors. In ...

2025 USRA Indoor Nationals

Good news is we now know USRA Indoor National Championships will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the multi-site + virtual hybrid format employed last year. The bad news is that USRA just solicited Site Host Proposals on August 22. Seems unlikely they will announce selected sites until early O...

Re: WRICH

Maybe because I participated last year, I received a long & detailed email about this yesterday. I think all this same info is now on the World Rowing web site as well. Why virtual? Rationale seems to be to increase participation, plus further advance indoor rowing as an eSport---with a stated goal ...

Re: WRICH

So....we are less than 8 months out from the typical WRICH date, assuming they stick with late February, 2025. Lots of time I guess, but seems they would have a host city announced by now. They announced the 2024 Prague location two years ahead. Anyone know anything?

Re: Future of CRASH-Bs?

For me, the three-week spacing between USRA and WRICH was perfect. Maybe two weeks would have worked. One week? Not ideal. So where would CRASH-Bs fit in? Perhaps they become the Great Kick-Off Event, positioned a few weeks prior to USRA? Or a Great Wrap Up Event, after WRICH? Staying in good form o...

Future of CRASH-Bs?

With USRA (and other national championships) and WRICH now behind us, the 2024 racing season is effectively over. Turning my thoughts to 2025, I’m very hopeful CRASH-Bs will return. But with what focus, timing, format, tweaks? USRA is clearly on to something with the hybrid format, and same-day loca...

Re: Alexandria results?

Well.....I got the big wrap-up email from US Rowing today at 3pm CT, with a link to the "official 2024 USRowing Indoor National Championships Leaderboard." Yes, I think the overall multi-venue event is going to be a GREAT model, with a lot of success to build upon. But nope, no separate identificati...

They offer 2K, 5K, and coed 2K relay events, with LW and Open categories. Cool event, with other sports to watch while you are waiting to erg (volleyball in the gym next d...

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????

So…back to the original question: What is up with Crash-B’s 2024? Anybody know? Could it merge (again) with USRA Championships? And what has become of that regatta??

Re: Rowing in a race but not having a good idea of what's happening

Hello everyone, I am rowing in an open weight double in a race very soon, and I barely have a clue on how to scull, let alone steer the boat effectively, dock it, give directions to my teammate, analyze traffic patterns, etc. I am absolutely terrified that I will fuck something up, whether it be my...

Re: What is “Elite” on the RowErg?

Hello, OP here. Thanks for all the thought-provoking replies. A wide-ranging conversation so far, as befits a true “forum,” and the passionate aficionados represented here. I would still appreciate more thoughts on the question I was trying to ask, re-stated here: Are there standards for determining...

Re: What is “Elite” on the RowErg?

Is there a generally accepted standard for “elite” performance within a given age group/weight class on a Concept 2 RowErg? And if not, would anyone care to suggest one, for purposes of debate/discussion? I assume it would be based on upper strata in C2 rankings and/or competitions…and of course, v...
