Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I had a good month of August, totting up 415km in the run up to a 2k PB attempt last weekend, but I've struggled a little getting back in the saddle since. Most of my long rows start at 5am which can be difficult to get out of bed for! Don't know what happened to my response above... It's not unusu...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Nothing wrong with doing UT1 sessions, people don't do enough IMHO. Had the mindset/approach in my running days that we aren't training to run slowly, and that rings true here. I had a good month of August, totting up 415km in the run up to a 2k PB attempt last weekend, but I've struggled a little ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

For instance, I did a workout over the weekend where you do 500m with 1 minute rest and go 2:20, 2:10, 2:00, 1:50, 1:40, 1:30 and back up. The 1:30 is surprisingly hard after the 1:40 and then the second 1:40 hurts after the 1:30 - anyway, when doing the 1:30 I started off at 1:27 pace and then was...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Absolutely garbage session. The complete day my body told me not to try, but I did. Roughly 2k warmup, felt not too bad. Started the TOC, 1,2,3,4,5min 1min rest, plan was to go 1:35/37/39 and then see what's coming up. The 2min already felt so hard and during the 3min I gave totally up, as my mind ...

That's a great result Alex. Very strong
Thanks Stu, first real test post 2k, it's a tough little session. I admire those who can knock out a steady session off the back of such work.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Have you got any idea of what you've done differently? It seems strange that it's returned suddenly. Lack of stretching? A different weight training exercise? Something different at work? It feels like you need to think laterally on this unless your training has changed in a subtle way. Your focus ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

That did seem to work for me, but I was also in lockdown and off work, so who knows what hidden benefits that gave me. I seem to think that your age has changed, so happy belated birthday if it has I could make it work in the New Year. But yes, being off work would certainly aid the recovery. Thank...

It was challenging, to say the least, but am proud that I was able to see it through.
Well it's reassuring to know you found it challenging! Brilliant work.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

To be honest, saw the session you did and fancied trying to compare rather than do a 12km as proposed. I'd be over the moon to hit what you did the other day for 2km in the Brits so I'm looking at your training as a friendly rivalry guide :D Regarding the lifting, we have just started doing a touch...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

04/09/24 An interrupted 3x6:00/2:00. Whilst not affiliated to a team for the CTC, I did like the look of this and felt it would be a good marker for 5k pace work. Clocked a 1:43 split fit the first, interrupted part way through the second, but in all honesty, that was just an excuse to stop. Tired a...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

4/9/24(Mon) 12x500m(1) 6km-19.58.9-1.39.9-R26 Not easy, went out sub 1.40 for the first 7(I think), then let the next 4 run out to around 1.40.3/4. The last one at 1.38.2(R27). Feeling tired, the gains now whilst still coming are naturally slowing. Always hard at a sub optimal rate as well. Various...
