Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan

Needed a reboot, so I'm back. Do you follow the plan exactly when you return? I actually changed all the SS to either 45 or 1hr sessions and just keep the intervals. Recently I've been playing with Pete's 5k plan, the 12*500m 1r are tough.. I was destroyed the first time I tried it with an overly o...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

After a break of 17 days with too much food and drinks, I am having hard time with even easy sessions. How long do you guys take to get back in the groove? Normally I row about 5 days a week, easy rows are a few splits higher with higher heart rates too. This is coming from someone without much lif...

Re: Effect of heat on pace: down to which distance ?

I sweat a ton and a headband definitely helps! Head band + 2 large wrist bands and fan facing me full blast. Still, end of last HM (in 31C, 76% humidity) I had quite a pool of sweat under the RowErg and my feet were literally bathing in my shoes. Had to pour the sweat off the shoes before putting t...

Re: Effect of heat on pace: down to which distance ?

Heart rate recovery is an interesting metric, I know that my average heart rate for the same intervals have gone lower even though the splits have gotten faster. It's probably a simpler statistic to track compared to time to recovery and the two are highly correlated. For a more unbiased analysis, y...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

My training is always fasted because of family obligations. 20-30 minutes is the most difficult. Afterwards, my body adjusts. I used to do time restricted fasting and didn't eat past 8pm till noon, most of my training was done during lunch so always fasted training. After a trip to Japan in April I...

Re: Is Zone 2 training really possible on Rower?

I'm another who's Hr doesn't align with RPE in terms of the zonal bandings. I can plug away with a hr just below 170 for 45-60min and it feel like a max RPE 5 session with a lazy stroke & higher rating - 170 is my zone 5 Hr threshold by the bandings. I find anything with a Hr around 150 as "easy"; ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Fasted state is not the best for me to workout, so probably it was related to it as you seem to not be used to it, too. Interesting you mentioned this, I did fasted training a while back for SS and stopped fasted training for a few months. Yesterday I was planning a 1hr fasted SS row in the morning...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Trying to work on building up lactate threshold for the 5k. Target was 2:03 based on previous 5k pace (2:03.5). I just realised the last time i did 4*1k with 3m rest I was averaging 1:58. No wodner it felt easier today. Lol Pete always claimed 6 x 1k r1' was at about 5k pace! I messed up and did a ...
