Re: Newbie looking for advise to increase pace
There are three ways to improve your pace: 1. Pull harder; 2. Pull farther (longer stroke); 3. Pull more often (higher stroke rate). Or any combination of these. Which combination is most efficient for you? How to measure efficiency? Probably the best way to measure efficiency is to see what heart r...

Re: Chain oil
BikeERG uses a belt not a chain. You can find a schematic on the site. https://www.concept2.co.uk/files/pdf/us/bikeerg/schematics/DETAIL-X.svg Does the noise sound like it is coming for the crank or the flywheel or somewhere in between. The BikeERG actually has two belts: one from the crank to an id...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
If you consult the legitimate medical literature I think you'll find out that tendonopathy has little to do with inflammation, and that NSAIDS (e.g. ibuprofen) and ice will have no effect. What is recommended is to continue exercise, but with force reduced enought that you have no after-exercise pai...

Re: Chain veers to the left on recovery
There is a brass bushing connecting the chain to the handle. Is it free and lubricated? Is the chain lubricated?
I can't think of anything in the sprocket assembly that would make it tilt radically without causing way more ruckus than you describe.

Re: Found concept2 on the fb market, need help in assesing
If the chain slips, there's a problem with the clutch bearing. The official solution is to replace the flywheel assembly -- Concept2 will sell you one if you ask, but it isn't listed. Last time I checked it was $100 for the Model D. I assume the Model C is similar, but ... inflation. It is probably ...

No Strength Erg for this Canadian
I feel badly that Concept2 is collateral damage to the dispute between Trump and Canada. Even if I were inclined to break the boycott, and even if I were inclined to pay the 25% on exercise equipment announced today, Concept2 won't ship to me! Hello, and thank you for being a part of the Concept2 Co...

Re: How do you focus?
There are much, much cheaper HR straps that work with the PM5. For example, the Coospo H808S. Personally, I set the PM5 to show avg. pace and also split pace, along with HR. In some ways I'd prefer watts over pace, but watts are rounded to the nearest whole number, which is too coarse to give quick ...

Re: Model C chain and sprocket change....
Yes, the machine is worth it but do you really need to replace the chain? If it is just seized you can probably loosen it by oiling and wiggling. Maybe work up a jig so you can soak it in mineral spirits first. A wire through the chain can be tied to the guide to keep it extended for this purpose. Y...

Re: Notes from an early adopter
Thanks for your input. I'm really interested and was going to be an early adopter. But the recent trade war has pre-empted that. Of course, Concept 2 are not parties to this dispute, but they are collateral damage.

I'm fine with Discord and electronic interaction in general, but I think it is a mistake to have that as one's only socialization.

Re: Keeping Type 2 Diabetes in remission in 2025
There's a lot of "learned wisdom" on social media that may or may not be correct. I think it is credible that you burn a larger percentage of fat if you go slow. 25% of max effort (as measured best by heart rate reserve) is 90% fat. 50% is 60% fat -- but that's still more fat per hour than 25%, 80% ...

Re: RowPro Version 6??
I come from the running community. At the same time I've been an indoor rower for 35 years, sans community. Though lately I've joined a virtual team, which I enjoy, but it doesn't afford much real-time face-to-face contact. Part of what is attractive about the running community is its inclusivity. T...

Re: RowPro Version 6??
I just tried RowPro on the demo license. Seems to work with the PM5, but they no longer let you set up any sort of preset on the demo. I have an old Windows 7 laptop with a permanent license, but that's too much effort for what RowPro is worth. Despite what it looks like on screen you still need a ...
