Re: The difficulty to go again on rowerg after a little break

I first got into erging through the Beginner Pete Plan and Pete Plan which tend to be the foundation of my training now too. Pete's advice for short breaks is to back off 1 split for each week you've missed. For interval work I find that very useful. Especially from a recovery perspective. Shorter i...

For whatever reason holding the rate 20 felt much more natural working at a higher intensity than it has during UT2 work. I have found that I oft...

I limited the rate on the final rep as I was concerned about recovery when I noticed it had crept up. A couple of days off the erg c...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I'm tempted to run the BPP again as I found it so effective when returning from illness before. It's a simple and effective progression to follow that would limit volume to start. I think that's a good idea. You've made progress before, so in my simple mind, you should be able to again. It will als...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thanks Stu and Nick. It will be a slow process but progress is always possible on the erg. Physically and mentally I feel a bit like I'm back where I was when I started the BPP after surgery which is frustrating but I made big improvements from that point in 8 months until this set back. https://i.p...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan

I've run the BPP twice all the way through. It's a very good program not just for making progress but very importantly it also instills the basics of how to make progress on the erg. Those small increases in distance on longer pieces and small improvements in average split on the intervals may not s...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Chest x-ray results back and as the GP feared there's scar tissue on my lungs resulting from getting the abscess removed last year. Docs think this is the most likely cause of my exhaustion and struggles training recently. Bad news is that there's no quick fix and the lower VO2 max I now have is lik...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Hi all, I have scheduled a 2k TT six weeks from now. My goal is to go sub 7 by then. I have been doing 3 to 4 long SS and one interval session each week. In total around 40-45k per week. I'm tempted to try a 5k TT this weekend to see where I am. I think I can be close to 19:30 which would put me at...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Covid finally got me :( .......no training from me for while I'm in a similar boat sadly, Winnie. After those two aborted sessions I popped to the GP as on I'm on edge about any breathing difficulties following surgery last year. My peak flow came back even more abysmally than the previous check up...

A couple of sessions that have felt like real setbacks for me the last 2 days. https://i.postimg.cc/dZCrDtpw/IMG-20220522-224355.jpg Yesterday's workout was a 'just row' SS aiming for 8k at a minimum as per the PP instructions. https://i.postimg.cc/jwzJHBvh/IMG-20220515-212021-01.jpg 8x500m/3:30r in first PP block was a 1:54 dead but I started way too fast and clung on at the end with the stroke rate up and down across reps. Pleased to have taken nearly a second off the average split here with much better control of the r...
