Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Add in bear canisters inside the dry bags. Although we didn't see any sign even of four footed wildlife. We camped on islands small enough not to be able to support a bear. Seen them twice, once was a full on camp invasion. Recommend a wide berth. We always give them a wide berth. Maybe 17 ...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Forgot to report in after my canoe trip. Obviously I survived since I'm posting! It was not stressful at all. We did a one day trip in three days. We did have one hard part where the wind was blowing fairly briskly into our faces kicking up 6-8" waves. They were pretty high considering we only had a...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Question for all: Any idea why there is such a perceived difference between doing curls with one solid bar/ two hands and doing them with two bars? Same total weight: one bar=45 lbs, individual bars are 22.5 lbs each. Could it be one arm is doing more work than the other and helping the weaker arm?...

Re: Early morning exercise
In college way back in 1972 we rowed in the AM 6 days a week from late September to middle May. This was in Florida, so weather rarely cut into workouts. While working and starting at 7 AM, it is just not possible for me to row in the AM. I'd have to get up too early and the noise of the rower would...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Those "mental strength" comments are pretty spot on. You've got something there. I know I've been a bit scared. Yesterday I had to miss Cardiac Rehab so I did it on my own at home. Lifted weights-Rehab told me to start at 8 lbs per arm. I left those weights at work so I dug out my bar here at home, ...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
How are you today Jerry, anyone whose had stents fitted will know how I feel right now, that horrible breathless heavy feeling, another two scars in the making on my right wrist, another on my left inner elbow where the cannula went, and of course the rapidly developing bruises, and down the snake ...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Wow Holly, I have prayed for you and will this Thursday. Another stent. My doctor is waiting to see if my medicines clear out the one artery that is still partially clogged. It does feel great to be doing some work. The Cardiac Rehab is so low on force, I'm trying to be patient. I'll see what they g...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
So I had my appointment with the Cardiologist this AM. I asked about the canoe trip and told him where we are going, remoteness, etc. He said he didn't see any reason why I should not go and take part in it. He also said I could get back to rowing, but I had to keep it low! No attempts at records or...

Re: 11 inactive sedentary years
Ok Jerry, I'm just being a bit mother hen, for the first six weeks of my rehab I walked the dogs up and down the street 😂 I'm sure you know what you're doing. 😊 Thanks Holly, I appreciate it. Same for Mitchel. Oh, and one of our adult leaders is an MD with a clinic on Staten Island, NY. But I don't...
