Re: SpeedRing for Model B - looking for one
Make one. That's what I did and it's easy to do. The outer diameter is IIRC 17" and the inner is the same diameter as the damper ring. You can use corrugated cardboard, poster board.... pretty much anything.

Re: Model B still worth buying?
I have a Model B purchased used in 2021 in excellent condition for IIRC $200. Since buying it I've added all available upgrades, including buying a PM5 (current stretchers, current handle, seat pad...). I even picked up some slides. Functionally, it's just great and I have no regrets. Most of the up...

There's a conversion chart on the C2 website:

There's also some simple math you can do. Check this out.

Re: Upgrade Model B Rower?
I bought my first erg last January... a vintage 1988 Model B for a whopping $200. I have since made every available upgrade to it... new-style handle, new-style stretchers, and PM5. It already had the current-style seat. I also replaced the shock cord and chain, just as preventive maintenance since ...

Re: Durability of rower
Can't speak to the weight aspect but I can definitely attest to the durability of the machine. I have a 33-year-old Model B that I bought for $200 in January. It runs as well as it did when new. I've installed all possible upgrades (PM5, new-style handle and new-style foot stretchers) so it's functi...

Million Meter club device question: RowErg on slides?
I just got some slides. The C2 Logbook charts these as such... meaning that my season total shows a composite bar. Question: Does a row erg on slides count as a separate device for purposes of hitting a Million Meter goal? Not that it really matters... it'll just set me back a couple of months in re...

Re: Pimp my Erg
How about a little sign/sticker in your line of sight with your personal motto/mantra on it? You know, the thing that keeps you focused and motivated. Assuming you have one, that is. Mine is simple. It's about commitment and personal accountability... making sure I don't (figuratively) slide off the...

Re: Breathing question
FWIW what feels natural to me is to start the pull with full lungs and finish with a full exhale. This means inhaling, exhaling and inhaling again during recovery. The stroke starts with full lungs.

Re: PSA: Polar heart belt sensor orientation
FWIW I also connect the strap to two devices at once. In my case it's an Apple Watch and the PM5. Here's what works for me: 1) Moisten the Polar strap and put the monitor on. 2) Connect to the Apple Watch via Bluetooth. 3) Wake up the PM5 and wait for it to find the strap via ANT+ connection. This o...

PSA: Polar heart belt sensor orientation
I use a Polar H9 chest strap heart monitor, which is the same as the H10 with slightly fewer features. It was working just great until a few days ago, when I had major connectivity/dropout issues during my workout. I assumed this might be due to a low battery in the sensor so I replaced it. The prob...

Re: Is there a wall wart power supply for the Model B?
Swap the PM that's on your model B for a PM5 and you can power that with a regular cell phone wall-wart and a USB-A to USB-B printer cable (same is true for a PM3 or PM4). There's no value in trying to hack a PM1, PM2 or PM2+. Now that's a handy tip! I have a Model B with a PM5 upgrade (which, by t...

Re: ergdata and apple watch
Something to consider: Software development is not the company's core business and the app is not essential to use of the product, unlike e.g. Peloton. It's a nice-to-have courtesy that they give away for free and isn't even tied to a revenue stream. There is a reasonable expectation that a company ...

Re: ergdata and apple watch
Optical heartbeat sensors such as those in fitness watches are, by all accounts, notoriously inaccurate. The chest strap is the way to go.
