Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Had to stop short today due to muscle cramps in my lower back. Plan to repeat week 1 and focus on form next week before proceeding to week 2. Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
PPB 2.2 Target 2:24.6 (PPB 1.2 pace) Look back at your average pace from the 6 x 500m session last week, and try to row each interval at exactly that pace. Don’t go faster, no matter how tempted you feel! Solid workout. There was no temptation. https://i.imgur.com/qIU6XRY.png Nicely done! If ...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Nice work. By the look of your splits, it looks like great workout. I would NOT slow down the SPM on intervals to get to a slower pace. The program will catch up to you as the workouts build on prior workouts. Appreciate the feedback! I’ll keep at this pace moving forward and see how it goes! Just ...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Looks like you’ve got things dialed in! After taking Mon off for basketball I was back at it today. Tried to increase spm but had a hard time keeping to my target pace of 2:10. Might need to slow it down to 22/23spm next time to keep from going faster than target. This was definitely a harder workou...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Nice work. That last 500! Way to empty the tank. I know it's not in the instructions, but I know it feels good. I'd say the split decrease felt right on the move. Thanks! Yes, it felt great getting under that mental barrier. And thanks for the feedback on the split decrease. I’ll start there and se...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
PPB 1.3 (repeat of PPB 1.1) Goal was at or slightly below 2:29.4 focusing on “technique, relaxation, efficiency”. My average s/m dropped from 42 to 33. I need to do some research, but the 33 s/m on the ski feels about right. https://i.imgur.com/lkuvqLu.png Incredible consistency! You nailed it! “Ai...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Thanks for the welcome, Ray! And thanks for getting this started - I definitely felt a bit more motivated today knowing I was going to post my results. :D It turns out the program I started has just 3 free workouts, after which the subscription model kicks in. Not quite ready for that commitment yet...

Re: Pete Plan for Beginners (BPP)
Are non-BPP newbies allowed? Got my RowErg Tues and started with a 10 min beginner row from Dark Horse on YouTube as a way to learn some basic technique. Was about to start the BPP today but decided to give the free Asensei 6 week program a try and loved it. Will probably stick to this plan to figur...

Re: New Member With Question
Congratulations! I very much doubt that anyone, adult or child will be able to hear the rower if it's in the room below. Maybe vice-versa, since it would be on the floor, which might transmit sound more easily to the lower room, but not with the nursery above. Enjoy. Bonus - in you few years you mi...

Re: New Member With Question
Thanks again for all the great feedback! After several conversations with my wife, I placed an order for an erg tonight! Can't wait!

Re: New Member With Question
Thanks for all the great replies! Much appreciated. It sounds like the general consensus is that nap time should not be an issue, but there are some things I can do to make sure I don't disturb the family (fan, mat under rower, rug/curtains/other sound-absorbing furnishings). The key thing going in ...

New Member With Question
Hello everyone! I've been having a lot of fun reading through the forum - thanks for the great content and discussion! Finally decided to join after being convinced to get a rower for home use (having enjoyed my time on ergs at the gym). My past experience has been on Brand-X water based ergos, but ...
