kinley, thanks for pasting that link. I think the Blackburn would be a great "rowing vacation" for an avid water rower.

Afterburner: AMEN. A great "erger" does not necessarily translate into success on the water. In college, I was a large, strong guy, but was beaten in many ...

Rowed fixed seat craft on Atlantic ocean as a kid in New England, and rowed sliding seat in college (4's and 8's), and now have two old Little River rec singles that I saved from the landfill and used on a local lake for a few summers. Both need restoring, so I'm erging more these days, but look for...

Why isn't there a conspicuous link to the forum on the C2 "new" website homepage? I don't visit as often as I'd like, and have to fiddle-fart around looking for it each time

thanks, it's a great forum.

Also, you are already very far ahead of the norm by being an experienced HS rower. You have a big advantage in that.

Most collegiate rowers seem to be former HS track, basketball and other atheletes. We had a wrestler, and several soccer players on my team. Due to repeated knee injury, I ...

It all depends really. If you are going for a varsity team, you don't have as many choices and it would be very competitive as well. Depends on the location of the school and size too.

You have probably applied and are close to choosing a school by now, right?

Club teams are g...

I found grips at the local flea market. A guy that sells replacement tool handles had buckets of rubber grips that worked on my B handle. Haven't had this wear problem yet on my retrofit C handle.

Overall, I do like the new handle better.

When we first started the (club) rowing team at my university, one of the other founding members had just gotten out of a 10 yr stint with the USNavy. He had a model A, and used it at home while we were stuck using the B's in the school athletic center. We were jealous that he had his own erg. <br /...

I have started getting cramps in my calves and in my oblique abdominal muscles lately. I called my DR today to ask for help. Advice was to drink more water/liquids in general, and add some seltzer water to my diet. It has quinine (spelling?), which apparently helps with cramping.

Any othe...

Not for rowing, but for scuba divers: a Honda mini-suv with "BELOH20" and a dive flag next to it.

clever, but it's like an expensive bumper sticker that cannot easily be replaced/changed when you get your mileage out of the novelty.

My lifetime favorite was a Subaru in Clemson...

Most materials go through expansion and retraction or general breakdown with the heat/cold, light/dark exposure over time. This could stress the materials and adhesives. If your boat is out of direct exposure, and the slings are well placed, you'll probably have no problem at all. If your boat has p...

Krysta confirmed my notion that the "wooosh" might have a soothing effect. It is said that the sound of a vacuum cleaner will calm some fretting babies, and an erg sounds like a cyclical vacuum I suppose. Just make a recording ("endless loop cassette tape") of your next workout and play that when yo...

If you are indoors, oil is probably fine... a thin coat.

If your erg is in the garage or other dirty area, the oil will collect dust and dirt and make the problem worse: worn parts.

I wonder if aerosol furniture polish (Glade) will work? It works in other applications where dir...
