Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

I have done 2 x 100k events, one on the rower and the other on the skierg. The rower (first event), I was paranoid about hydration and probably overdid the fluids beforehand. Consequently I had to go (used an adjacent bucket!) about 3 or 4 times from memory. I was better prepared the second time on ...

Re: 100000m skierg

I completed my 100k Skierg on Friday 28th April. It was in my birthday week, as I had turned 60. I had a year or so preparing - basically just getting some distances under my belt. Usually 100k/week - with a mixture of rowing and Skierg. As I had previously done the 100k row nearly 2 years ago, I ut...

GlennUK - that's an amazing effort! Congratulations. It is more mental than physical and you certainly had your challenges. Well done.

Ro, row, row! The more you do (with adequate rests), the more your body will adapt. It takes time, be patient and have a good plan and reasonable timeframe.

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

Thank you for the kind messages regarding my 100K 2 days ago. I am rested up and apart from some strange niggles - injury free. A month of steady recovery (some light rowing only) - then on to something else. So here is a quick review... Positives - firstly I had a strong fitness base, have done num...

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

Ok, so completed my 100K - 7:27:10.3. Happy to have completed it, but the 2:13.9 splits were a bit slower than I would have liked. This was my rookie 100K and I'll give it another attempt in 2 years when I am 60. I made a few rookie mistakes, but I'll post a review in a couple of days when I have re...

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

I am currently on week 10 of the Fletcher plan - feeling quite worn out to be honest. Only this week and next to get through (2 hard weeks) and then start to taper. A couple of learnings: - as you say, keep your food intake up, I feel I may have not done enough in this aspect - don't plan for the ha...

Re: 100k programme

The Fletcher plan seems to be good for the 100k. I also am on week 5 (14 weeks total) and will attempt the 100K row on Sep 25. Having done numerous marathons and a couple of 50k runs - I think I can complete it ok, but I want to have a crack at a reasonable time. That could be my undoing (I'm a litt...

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

Hi everyone, new to this forum - but I am planning to do a 100k row in September. It is in support of a charity event (mate will do a 100k skierg!). Great tips on this forum, much appreciated. I've done about 5 marathons previously and 2 x 50ks (times below) - so I need to build up a bit from a rela...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

First time poster. I did a marathon and a 50K row - 2 weeks apart. Marathon (about my 5th time) was a PB at 2:55:02. Strange thing is that the 50K (2nd 50K effort) 2 weeks later, was a touch faster - with a slower average HR (130 average 50K vs 135 average FM)... I can't work out why that would be. ...
