Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Did the 1K for the WRIC. As you know, I originally thought I still had a sub 3:00 in me but then based on training results thought it would be more like 3:01-3:02 and......I did just about that - just a tenth quicker at 3:00.9. Currently sitting in 4th - I have finished 1st once, 2nd twice, 3rd onc...

Re: Loss of Strength

What drag are you using ? Maybe you have it too high and 9 yrs off rowing means you are prob gonna have to build technique again. Doing 45 min sessions is quite along time to go for after a lot of time off and to be honest 2.27 is prob about right for just starting back. Try a 20 min session and see...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I had proper flu about 28 years ago. Absolutely disgusting and similar to what you went through, so it's possibly just what you were always going to feel like regardless. Good to see you back on it Thanx Danger, it is nice to be doing something again and you are right about being disgusting it is. ...

Re: Your Absolute Top Choices Of Strength Training For Making You Faster On The Concept 2.

All I would add here is sometimes consider an all body session once a week and swap deads and squats fortnightly if you really want to go heavy and recover. Do the squats or deads in a separate session form the body session. I would use wendler principles on squats and deadlifts. I personally use 6 ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Since the CTC was a 200m last year in October, this is a test distance we do here and there during our gym warmup. In the CTC I could log a 33.1 as fastest try of 5 overall with the slowest at 33.4. Today I did this test again and could manage a flat 32, so within a year I could improve from 1:22.7...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I will prob alter between a 1 min rest and 2 min rest per session for 200m I'm currently going through a block of 500-1000m training and will rest minimum 2minutes for these short sharp intervals. You want to get comfortable rating and pacing high, too short a rest may impact this. It is sometimes ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

500M is not wholly anaerobic but that is a huge component of it. Not at all sure what Tabata trains as there are reports of VO2 Max and Threshold improvements, only ever done these as one offs so no experience of this. I would say 200M intervals are anaerobic. These will have a benefit and you migh...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Haven't posted for a week or so again but still plugging along. Currently have a dilema, despite how it makes my knees feel I have been squatting fairly heavy for a few months and it has worked in the sense that my leg strength has increased and close to what I used to do. The problem is, my legs a...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Can anyone tell me what is the best interval distance to row and rest time for a 500m race, is it something like 6 to 8 times 200m with a 1min rest or 8 x 20 secs tabata ? I want to make it a regular thing, just until I get the time I want at 500m I seem to have stalled on progress and I guess it is...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

2 weeks ago I did a really quick 200m then picked up a cold. I did not do much until last weekend when I went to a powerlifting comp and pulled a pb on deadlift of 200kg. I have extended my cycle rides now to 30 mins covering an average of 8 miles per ride and did the next distance of 250m in traini...

Re: Father Time?

Here an active Judoka (over 3 hrs/week, aside training some soon-to-be-blackbelts). Many martial arts require some lifting of bodies, making it quite a strength-excercise, at least when starting out. Once technique is really developed, it becomes less hard as you don't lift people, you tip them ove...
