Prep for 20 mile hike
Hello, don't post very often so hope this is OK. In a couple of weeks I have a 20mile hike up and down, majority on paths. I'm able to do it as I've done it before 12 months ago, but I've not been too active recently do wondering what I can do in the next couple of weeks to improve my fitness to mak...

Re: Maffetone training for fat loss?
Yes, I've been watching dark horse videos and quite conscious of developing good form.
I took hr 134 from the Maffetone calc: 180 minus age, minus 5 as I am new to this really.

Re: Maffetone training for fat loss?
Should add, I'm confident my hr would spikes up if I was jogging so I don't know what that tells me about how I'm rowing. I'm only 5ft 3 so frankly not a lot of distance to put force into my legs. I find it quite hard to put a decent drive in if that makes sense. I sometimes wonder if I'm just not t...

Re: Maffetone training for fat loss?
Thank you, I am thinking that 30 to 60 mins is achievable. I just had a go thinking I'll do 20 mins at my maf hr which is 134 - I couldn't get up to it! I would have had to totally hammer at a fast rate, it would not have been a ut2 perceived rate. I must be really really unfit or something.

Re: Maffetone training for fat loss?
I've struggled with getting going because I don't know what to aim for. Ultimately, I want good fitness for longevity but also to lose weight. I'm fine with sticking to a hr, it gives some structure, I just don't know how long/how far I should be going for. If I don't have that structure it's all to...

Re: Maffetone training for fat loss?
So focus on the calories burned rather than time or distance?

Maffetone training for fat loss?
I've been reading through the forums and came across maffetone training. It all kind of makes sense staying in the fat burning zone and sounds appealing not to be hammering through sessions. I realise this is all in addition to eating good quality food but what I can't work out from the maffetone st...

Re: Halving beginner pete plan?
Yes I mean halving the bpp so 2500m on w1d1 instead of 5k, 3x 500m on w1d2 instead of 6x500m etc. I can Row 5000m but I want to get into it and perfect technique as so many of you have mentioned. I've watched the c2 videos on form, some other YouTube videos too like dark horse. I just want a plan an...

Re: Halving beginner pete plan?
Do you have a HR monitor? That would be useful for you to gauge your training zones and pace. How many days are you training and roughly how much time do you have for each session? Yes, I have a heartvrate monitor. I did my 2500m at steady state and stupidly forgot to set my watch to start the work...

Halving beginner pete plan?
For the extra extra beginner :D I've been rather aimlessly having a go on my erg, ultimately I want to lose fat but appreciate this is more about diet than exercise. I need some kind of plan. I started attempting c25k but on the rower and just couldn't quite get into a rhythm. I had no idea how hard...

Re: Equating rowing to daily steps?
10000 steps for me is just over 80 mins walking at 6 km/h - at that pace I am burning about 350-400 KCals per hour - on the erg a steady rowing pace for me is round about 700-800 KCals per hour so I would say the time required should be halved - Round about 45 min row should roughly be equivalent t...

Re: Equating rowing to daily steps?
Thanks. The nutrition plan i want to follow bases its allocation of calories on how many steps a day you can commit to. But since I can't walk that far but can row I wanted to aim at a similar exertion and earn some calories! I just don't know how many steps I'd put myself down for if I rowed for 30...

Equating rowing to daily steps?
I'm a new c2 owner and struggling with an ankle injury which I am getting physio for. I'm unable to walk any great distance at the moment because of it so not getting my steps in. Does anyone know if there is a formula to convert 10000 steps to distance or time on a rower? I'm fine with rowing, it d...
