Re: ErGdata app - not showing NFC on iPhone 12 Pro

You likely have read this already. The only step seems to be hitting the "N" icon before bringing the phone close. Pasting it here so others can try it. Most newer phones have NFC for payment apps, contact exchange, etc. https://www.concept2.com/service/software/ergdata/how-to-use/connecting-nfc-ne...

It doesn't use NFC. It uses BTLE.
Thank you. Yes it does work under BT but it was so simple with my 11 Pro to just use NFC. I know the NFC is working because when I put the phone near the PM-5 and tap it, it launches the Concept2 site in the Safari browser.

ErGdata app - not showing NFC on iPhone 12 Pro

Hi there,
I just updated my iPhone 11 Pro to the iPhone 12 Pro and noticed that the NFC reader option is not showing, only BT. Any thoughts out there?

Thanks

Re: Intro and questions re Model D

To answer your questions, that is pretty easy. A damper setting between three and four is ideal. Most rowing videos on YouTube recommend that setting. If your wife and you both have smart phones like Apple or android, you can use the Ergdata app and it will track your sessions separately as it pairs...

Re: Model E discontinued

That’s a great quote, Soul. 😆 Apologies if that seemed like I was suggesting that you don’t buy the expensive 6 inches...I was more making a statement for myself. I’d love to try a tall “E” style someday. Please, please! No need to apologize (are you Canadian like me?). Your point was 100% valid. A...

Re: Model E discontinued

I would love to order me a set of the taller legs. Hopefully they will turn up in the parts list. I agree, and as a reply in this thread noted, in the legs-only retrofit package should be available in May for $180 a set. Add tax and shipping, this will be a costly 6 inches of height. :) I see from ...

Re: Knee pain - ya I know....

Still down after a week. I am just begging to be able to walk again. Funny thing is that I could row, but then I need to get off the Erg and the pain sets in. Waiting to see my orthopaedic surgeon. Been putting off knee replacement. Might be time for another arthroscopic surgery. 😔

Re: Knee pain - ya I know....

Still not rowing while waiting for the tendonitis to subside. This getting old part sucks, but still better than dead I suppose. 😀

Re: Knee pain - ya I know....

Stu is right about the ice therapy. Using an elastic knee brace to provide additional stability to the joint is a good idea. Also anti infammatories post workout. Tendonitis is a classic overwork sign. They are relatively poorly vascularized tissues that take a long time to habituate to increase lo...

You will need to ice it if it's tendons, as heat only helps if it's muscles.

I agree with Mark too, some form of calisthenics will be helpful to provide ancillary support.

Re: Knee pain - ya I know....

My knee started acting up middle of last summer (about the same time as my shoulder). It is worst when I'm walking. Rowing and cycling don't seem to bother it. Well, now that I'm not cycling or rowing I've been walking and, yeah, it hurts. I wanted some lower body strength exercises to keep a littl...

Knee pain - ya I know....

I think I developed a tendonitis in my right knee. It's been sore to the point of limping lately. I taped it up and took a day off rowing. I think I will go to alternate days of rowing to give it a rest. Maybe ice? Maybe heat? Maybe both? Beuller? Beuller? Getting old sucks, but it beats the alterna...

Re: How often do you train?

I train six days a week and take Sundays off, although we use that for house cleaning since we cannot have our cleaning persons come over due to pandemic.
