I do make an effort to get some single-leg work in, but probably not regularly enough.
I enjoy front squats, but can handle a much heavier load back squatting. I think I'll focus on back squats until progress halts, and then add in some front squats.
Thanks for the replies!

Re: Weight Training for Rowing
I have recently started the starting strength novice linear progression. This focuses on the back squat.
I have already supplemented the plan with bent over rows.
Might it be more suitable for rowing performance if I also add the occasional front squat to hit the quads?

Re: BikeERG and Zwift distance discrepancies
The bikeerg measures power, rather than speed and distance. Both the distance displayed on the bikeerg monitor and the distance shown on zwift are derived from exactly the same power measurement. However, that power measurement is used very differently by each. The bikeerg converts power to distance...

Re: Zwift and heart rate
Thanks all. I finally got it working today.
For me, the solution was to use the companion app to connect to the bikeerg, and connect my hr monitor to the pc only. It is a bit temperamental and I cannot reconnect consistently if it loses signal, but did work for a whole session.

Re: Zwift and heart rate
Ok, that's interesting, thanks. I've not got zwift to work directly connecting the bikeerg to my computer, hence the app. I think it's the rubbish Bluetooth connection my laptop has.

Zwift and heart rate
Hi All,
How do those of you that use zwift connect a heart rate monitor? Do you connect it to the bikeerg, the companion app, or the computer? (I connect to the app from the bike).
Thanks very much!

Re: 400m of hope, 100m of reality
Thanks. One less thing to work on!
Will have a go at a low drag factor. I just seem to struggle to get a good enough pace if it is too low. Strong but slow legs!

Re: 400m of hope, 100m of reality
Thanks. My drag factor was 166. Initially, my best times were at max resistance, but as I have got fitter and stronger, I seem to be getting faster at lower drag factors. I don't have particularly good sprinting technique. I suspect that the quarter/half slide technique is more useful for chunkier f...

Re: 400m of hope, 100m of reality
Thanks All for the fantastic and informative replies. There is a lot to digest and a lot to try. First off, I am going to have to get me a proper warm-upm (rather than 5 minutes of paddling with a couple of 15s pushes). Funny that I noticed that other thread on warm ups, but did not take it on board...

400m of hope, 100m of reality
Hi All, I'm generally a lurker, but thought I'd pick your collective brain. I thought I had a shot at a 500m PB today, but was way off. Aiming to get into the low 1:27s. I found the first 400m considerably more comfortable than usual. I was exactly where I wanted to be until the countdown hit 100m, ...

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
British Rowing have just sent out a survey to see if another British Rowing Virtual Championships would be popular. It is intended to be in addition to bric. They are considering other distances too (the survey considers 200m up to marathon). Looks like it would be good if it goes ahead. It would be...

Re: Low stroke count.
I much prefer a higher df for sprinting. My one-minute pb had a df of 192. Took a while to find a sweet spot. Not max resistance, but not low either. I couldn't do a good 1k at that resistance.
