Is there a rule of thumb for pacing of longer, easy day rows--like 2K pace + x?

2K improvements for a newbie?
Nine weeks ago I started a structured periodized row/spin program, after a few years on the couch. I'm a 38 y.o. female, carrying around about 40 extra pounds.
