Re: 2025 World Rowing Indoor Championships
The way I read the WRICH website, the "Grand Final" is for ONLY the Top 20 rowers of each gender, period, irrespective of weight and age classification. I am therefore not in danger of racing three times!

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
Is it time to give up on CRASH-Bs for 2024? Or at least time to give up on the purported February 11 date? Seems highly unlikely the organizers would try to pull it together in two months (not to mention competitors' flights, hotels, training schedules, etc.) Such a great event last year! Well-organ...

WRICH 2024 Sanctioned Qualifiers?
While I'm not interested in going to Prague in February, it would be nice to qualify for the virtual participation. Virtual times are due by January 15, even though the regatta is not until February23 & 24. The very informative Competitor Guidelines manual refers to using "Sanctioned Events" to achi...

Good news coming about masters lightweights at CRASH-B's. Expect more official info soon....

Re: Bring LWTs back to 2021 CRASH-B Sprints!
Hmmmm. To 'jamesg,' AOK if you don't support the effort to reinstate lightweight categories at CRASH-B's...but what's driving your disdain for lightweights? Well, "virtual" rowing is already an honor system. Not at national and international level, nor in the C2 ranking tables If you are rowing at h...

Re: 2021 CRASH Bs
PaulG, Others: I have started a new thread in this competition forum specifically to ask people (again) to contact USRowing and CRASH-B to encourage them to reinstate lightweight events at CRASH-Bs in 2021. With deep respect and admiration to "bencoolb" for initiating a lightweight regatta, CRASH-Bs...

Bring LWTs back to 2021 CRASH-B Sprints!
I'm posting here to ask for help. CRASH-B and USRowing have decided to exclude lightweight categories from the US Championships erg competition on March 7th. Perhaps if enough members of this Forum contact them, they will reconsider this odd, unprecedented, and unfair position. So far, USRowing has ...

Re: Tips to avoid back pain
My best tip to avoid back pain: Warm Up Properly! After a year of erging, my back actually feels better than it did before. I attribute this to a full warm-up before every hard workout. This requires at least 5 minutes (10 is better) of “low and slow” strokes on the erg, pace about 40 seconds slower...

Re: Accuracy of Zero Rest Intervals?
Thanks to all for the input. I went ahead and set up my 2K test as three “zero rest” intervals....and it hurt just as much anyway. If any inaccuracy creeped in, it can’t be much!

Re: 2021 CRASH Bs
Thanks for the comprehensive response Paul G. Actually, I do know for certain that concern over cheating is the reason CRASH-Bs eliminated LWT categories. I have an e-mail, dated 12/3, from Sarah McAuliffe, Senior Events Manager of USRA. In response to my inquiry, she wrote: “There are no lightweigh...

Re: 2021 CRASH Bs
Very sorry for anyone who gets cheated by a cheater, if that is what happened. Back to the “injustice” of US Championships/Crash Bs skipping LW categories this year, anyone have any ideas how to successfully protest? Seriously, they have time to figure it out, and could simply adopt the World Champi...

Re: Accuracy of Zero Rest Intervals?
Well, I could do that, but I’m just not that good with math in my head while rowing, and I have different targets for each of those three segments (1100M, 500M, 400M) that I would like to see and assess as I go. And If I falter on one segment, I want to “wipe the slate clean” and shoot for my target...

Accuracy of Zero Rest Intervals?
I’d like to practice my race pace plan by setting up 2K tests as three consecutive “Zero Rest” intervals—-1,100 M, 500 M, and 400 M. Perhaps a dumb question, but will the sum of these three intervals give me an accurate 2K time—-or does some inaccuracy creep in?

Re: 2021 CRASH Bs
Can I join in to complain about lack of lightweight categories at Crash Bs? Other indoor regattas have either figured this out (such as the highly detailed procedures for the World Championships), OR they are just going to use an honor system. Lets be real---virtual rowing already IS an honor system...
