Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Hey guys, haven't been on in awhile. Unfortunately I suffered a lower back injury back on the 1st, and had to take two weeks off. Not sure how long it'll take to get back to 100%, but yesterday was the first day I was given the all clear to give the rower a try. Did 20 minutes of steady, easy pace w...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Needed 90 minutes today to hit the 30 hour long haul challenge. Did a ten minute warmup, then set out for an 80 minute row. Had to stop after 70 though, as my backside cramped up to where I didn't want to push through... Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 1:10:01.0 15,244m 2:17.7 134 760 22 129 10:00...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Time to obliterate some low hanging fruit with a 6k today. Previous 6k was on December 21st: Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 26:11.5 6,000m 2:10.9 156 836 21 154 First goal today was to beat 2:03.4 pace, which I did 2 weeks ago on a 5k TT Second goal was to go for a 24:30. Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Speed ladder on the Pete Plan this evening. Last cycle came out to a 1:54.5 average, but that was with going too conservative up the ladder...too much left in the tank coming back down, so I set a goal of 1:52 up the ladder and see what was left for the ride down: Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 1...

Re: Stroke Interval Training

That sounds like a strength building type of workout. To echo others, gotta be very careful with high intensity work as the injury risk is high. Ten hard strokes with two minutes of paddling would essentially translate to 100m repeats with 2 min recoveries on the PM5. If I were you I'd do that and f...

Re: Just passed 500,000 metres in 12 weeks!

Do you track resting heat rate? I'd be very interested to learn if 12 weeks & 500km was enough to lower yours, and it so by how much. I'd be interested as well. When I started in December my morning resting HR was 60-62, and is currently in the low 50's. Be interesting to see if someone else had si...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thanks for the feedback Max, Tony, and Faach. I'm just training for fitness, no racing, so not too worried about the huge change from first split to the last. I'd rather do what I did rather than pick a start that turns out to be too aggressive, and end up failing or bailing on the workout. That's g...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

10k today, no specific goal in mind as the previous PB was a 45:00 (2:15 pace), but that was not a max effort in hindsight. Went with the negative split strategy and pushed through the last 3k a bit faster than I thought I could. Got wobbly with 1k to go but hung on. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Noticeably sore today after yesterday's 8x500, but a good kind of sore, the kind where you know it was a good workout. Recovery day today, so flipped the monitor over out of sight and paddled while watching TV for what turned out to be 70 minutes at a HR of 115-120. 10k TT tomorrow, and looking like...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Rowing hasn't been in a good place lately, but have been using the SkiErg a bit more. 2k PB. Felt very sluggish and weak on the warm up. No real idea how to pace it, and was aiming at 2:04 (50 %ile), but was a bit better than expected. Had to put the hammer down to get under 8' in the end, and was ...
