Marathon row from yesterday for World Diabetes Day. Last year I finished in 2:57:50, this year 2:53:29. The last hour felt like I was staring death in its face for the whole 14km, but managed to keep it going somehow.

Re: The three areas I see ripe for improving rowing power over current technique
Are you looking to discuss how to maximise improvements in these areas? 1. We can maximise muscle contractile efficiency by improving neural pathways via technical training both on water and on ergos. A case can be made that a static ergo negatively affects the technical carryover to on water, and a...

30 minute PB
Last PB was 8124m on a 30r20. Need to get better at higher rating, but happy to sneak under 1:50 average and negative split all the way through.

1000m Row for World Indoor Sprints
Ambitiously aimed for sub 3:00, turned into a classic fly and die. Happy to have kept going despite knowing I was going to fail. Personal best by 3 seconds

Re: Anyone try the Vapor Fitness seat pad? Yet another seat pad search thread
It is more comfortable than the seat with no cover/pad, but like Cyclist2 said it doesn't take pressure off the sit bones and tailbone. The C2 seat pad design creates space for the sit bones and tailbone to move without friction against the seat surface. My suggestion would be for your wife to use t...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Nice, I’ve never tried a dynamic before, does it feel differently? It does, there's more emphasis on the leg drive out of the front. And also with your body not having to move back and forth up the slide with each stroke, higher ratings are easier to hold, but it's harder to get as much force per s...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Went for a 500m PB today, previous best was 1:26.8 on a static. Today got 1:25.0 on a dynamic. Hard to say if it would be any different on a static, but I'm not fussed. I went faster so I'm happy

Who's taking part this year? First workout is 2k, with the 3rd 500 being a scored event too. Quite a fun one, encourages a conservative first 1000 then drop the hammer.

Training for the World Indoor Sprints in March. Hoping to try and get sub 3:00.max_ratcliffe wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 9:56 pmThis is an interesting workout and looks brutal. The first two are ferocious distances too, and it's fascinating to see the drop off as i guess cns fatigue really started kicking in.
What are you training for? 1k?

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Sprint session today. 1 minute at absolute max, 5 minute rest, for 5 reps. Aim is to get as low a split as you physically can each rep, and try to hold on to it. It was as bad as it sounds. The last 2 I was seeing high 1:30s towards the end of each rep. Need to go to failure to break your physiology...

Re: PM5 data v ‘other’ data
If you take a stroke that overlaps the end/start of an interval then that stroke gets voided, so my guess that's what happened with your stroke count. It's happened to me before. Better to do 1 hour single time with 10 minute intervals, and either write down your stroke count target somewhere you ca...

60 minute erg test today. Haven't done a max effort hour before, so went semi-conservative and picked 1:54 at r26. Taped over the HR display so couldn't see the 185+ HR for the last 25 mins  60:00.0 / 15836m / 1:53.6 / 238w / r26 / 180 HR / DF106 10:00.0 / 2609m / 1:54.9 / 230w / r26 / 169 HR 2...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
4 sets of 10:00 at r22 / 90s rest. Getting my hamstrings used to pulling the foot plate back to me on the dynamic rather than using the chain recoil on a static to come into the catch. Felt good this morning, negative splits each set while keeping HR under control, and the drive speed high. 40:00.0 ...
