I had the same experience with my brand new Mod D when it arrived in February - direct from C2.
One of the legs the holes didn't line up correctly. I've ended up using a couple of washers and a spacer to get it to work.
IIRC it was exactly the same when I got my Mod C back in 2003 or so !

Re: Garmin forerunner 235 and PM5
I could never get my 235 to connect to the PM5. Ended up buying a chest HR strap - which also seems a lot more accurate on the rower than my wrist-based readings. I don't know if it's just my watch or not, but the wrist-based HRM seems to pick up some sort of interference and electrical impulse gene...

Re: Happy with progress - how should I accelerate?
Try some longer rows - say one per fortnight. The sheer endurance it'll give you means that you'll be able to maintain form better over the shorter distances. By longer rows I mean 30 min, 10k and 60 min rows. Your progress won't be linear forever, I'm afraid to say. It will be linear for a while, b...

Re: 4x4x48 100,000m in 48 hours Challenge
Only just seen this : I did the running version (4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours) last June. My take from the event : 1. Know your sweat use and fluid needs. For me, I found in training that I needed to take on roughly 750ml of fluid to compensate for each run. Add in 'subsistence' fluid and I ne...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
I've not been on the erg much recently (only 63k in January), been cross-training with a bit of running and time on the turbo trainer to boot. But ... the new C2 has arrived ! I went on the waiting list back on the 14th October, and it was delivered this morning by 2 very cheerful and helpful lads f...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Had my first shot of the Covid jab on Friday - a rather sore shoulder over the weekend, so didn't train at all. Damn, that's a brilliant excuse for being lazy, shame there's only one part to go ! Anyway, back to it this evening. A 5 minute warm up, followed by the 'classic' C2 pre-set descending int...

Re: Heartrate monitor + fat around abdomen
I'm a bit dubious on the wrist-based HR watches on the C2 - my Garmin watch doesn't work well with it, for some reason. It tends to read my HR as exactly 3 time my stroke rate, so there looks to be some sort of inducted field happening This doesn't happen with the chest HR strap Watch is a Garmin 235

Sat on the turbo trainer for 5 minutes as a warm up. 30 minutes - aiming for a PB (old PB 7371m) Splits set at 3 minutes, as it makes target maths simple when the brain isn't working properly 3:00 733 6:00 735 9:00 727 12:00 742 15:00 740 18:00 738 21:00 738 24:00 738 27:00 743 30:00 773 Total 7407m...

Re: Beginner RHR issues
My RHR for the last week has ranged between 47 and 56, with an average of 52 Today, my RHR is 49, but my Garmin watch says that my lowest recorded number in the last 4 hours is 42. My RHR can be heavily affected by training the day before (especially running, rowing or cycling have less effect, not ...

Re: 2021 goals
Put down your (probably erg-based) 2021 targets, and, at the end of the year, we can all re-visit and see how we did Most folks do this in April. The "rowing season" runs 1st May to 30th April, not 1st Jan to 31st Dec. That's a very good point, I'd not thought if it ! Thanks, and apologies. Will re...
