Re: Forum Flyers

had a second try at the CTC tonite and managed to knock 11s off last time. Kept the long ones @<1:55 and 4 @<1:50 Terry was @1:56 to float second boat Nice improvement, augers well Lindsay, and Terry always impresses. My own struggle is less explainable than yours, with no physical constraint! Anyh...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Not been doing much except the CTC each month and fortnightly row OTW for last few months. It's been a busy time with lots of upheaval. Monthly metres for the past year: Aug - 5510 - this month Jul - 27040 Jun - 6640 May - 5010 Apr - 26840 Mar - 21080 Feb - 18150 Jan - 8000 Dec - 14010 Nov - 20780 O...

Re: Forum Flyers

Two things. 1. I think Penny Glew, lightweight female, made a wee error in entering her CTC time. Might be worth checking it out and correcting it. Good to have her floating a boat though. 2. Holy Guacamole Batman! Elizabeth is totally killing it! Fantastic 5K to go along with the rest of her fine ...

Re: Forum Flyers

Hello Henry. Hope no MAD rush to lure our new member away but it wouldn’t surprise me. :? I miss Freddy Hancock. Brought some welcome youthful enthusiasm along with the speed! We still have a fast LWT male in the name of Jon - he's a young master, great OTW rower and shows up occasionally to post a...

Re: Forum Flyers

HNY everyone :D 2021 was a great year for the Flyers - some impressive performances both quantity and quality. And heaps of new faces, females aplenty - welcome all. Hello Natalie and Isabella, your ctc contributions were noticed - hope we see you again - in the past Taru from the Calonius family wa...

Re: advice needed for first indoor rowing competition

A couple of ideas for you, Nick. As others have said, do a good warm up and have a short break before the race. When you sit on the race erg, set the shoe height and drag factor - it is easy to forget these tasks especially as the day goes on. Then do some relaxed strokes to get the feel for the spa...

Re: Rowing technique review

Hi Andy, You're doing quite well for learning by watching. I agree with Tony and Max that when you start the recovery of the stroke, you can hold the knees down (a lot) longer and only let them come up to the chest when your hands are past the knees and your body has rocked over so your shoulders ar...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I read that training has been going swimmingly for everyone - well done. For myself it is progressing slowly if not a bit arduous most days. After a disrupted July program - spent 16 days away from the erg mostly walking transects over rough terrain in vast cattle paddocks in central Queensland - I'...

Re: Forum Flyers

Sweep? Sculls? Pray tell. First sculling lesson in a single! It was a struggle to get my hands and arms coordinated. Just found it really difficult to get both sides and hands and arms to go where they were supposed to go, I just kept overthinking everything and forgetting how to move. But got a fe...

Re: A step too far

Nice stretch of water, fast boat, could be a little tippy, but you've got it all :D
I'm sure that great scullers are born that way, the rest of us just have to learn how it's done, and the only way to do that is often.
Keep at it, it'll happen.

Re: Forum Flyers

Did the CTC on Saturday. 3k wu 2000m @1:59.5 r20 then 5000m @1:58.2 r26 1.5k cd It was a good challenge and decent workout for me; first interval was solid but not exhausting, second interval started to bite hard. I think if I tried it in the other order I would struggle big-time with the r20 interv...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Not so much training this month; just 100k, and 30k of that was in the last 2 days and 10k on race day in early June. Not that I mind, my Dad has been the most important person in my life at the moment, and somehow he keeps getting older - the good thing is that, despite his fragility, he is as shar...
