Re: 50Plus - New Team

A great outcome and a worthy challenge. I am amazed that I put in 200k, but clearly the training is paying off.

Let’s go after the next one and keep proving that life really does begin at 50!

Re: 50Plus - New Team

I have just under 70k to get in to hit the 200k. What time does the challenge end as I see a few double workouts in my future! BTW: I haven't done any doubles yet and so any and all advice will be appreciated! I am assuming it's midnight local time to you on the 15th as the logbook records the loca...

Re: 50Plus - New Team

Hi all, just wanted to apologize for dragging the team average down :( I'm a new rower (got my erg about week after the challenge started) so I'm still working on technique and base fitness. Also ... we've had some really nice weather lately and I wanted to get some more road and mountain biking mi...

Re: 50Plus - New Team

Got to my 100k tonight and have a long row planned for tomorrow. I am going to have to hit a couple of double work out days to get my 200k, but I don't see any reason to not hit it. As we get closer, do we want to figure out what we need to do to push past the team in front? Not saying I can get to ...

Re: 50Plus - New Team

Fun to watch the meters grow. I had forgotten to check this forum, but dutifully check our standings after every session. I am doing the Beginner Pete Plan and so my volume is going up every week. I decided today to start adding a 1,000 meter "warm up" and another 1,000 "cool down" to every session ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan

I am on week 13 of the BPP and am also very new to the world of rowing. I am also about 6 months shy of age 60, and started actively using my model d when my work ordered us to be at home until the end of the year. Reading this thread, I suspect that I have been going too fast on the long pieces, as...

Re: 50Plus - New Team

Hi all, Yet another new rower, jumping into the fray at age 59. I began this in June, but managed to hit over 160k meters for the August challenge, so I am definitely hooked! I would like to join up and help with the new fall challenge and at the same time keep working on improving my form, fitness ...

Re: Butt Blisters?

Thanks all. I am interested in the Citius but it looks like it has to be ordered from Europe? I will try going back to basics and using the boathouse shorts as I first did. I also went back to wearing a shirt as the tip about the headband (which I already use) made me think that sans shirt a lot of ...

Butt Blisters?

I am still quite new to the world of rowing, but have been making steady progress along the Beginner Pete Plan and am in the last week of the August challenge. Awkward as it may be, I am developing, umm, blisters on my backside and not sure how to best eliminate the cause. I have a Model D and am us...

Re: Training Complexity and Beginner Pete Plan

Dude - just row! Let it be what it is. Put your curious mind into what your body is doing, how you are breathing, if your shoulders are nice and relaxed, if you are hinging at your hips.... Wise words and a good reminder to park my data and analytics job at the door...thanks for the, umm, nudge whi...

Re: Hi guys.. *damper settings query*

Here's a strange side question: After testing DF at several damper settings, I ended up at perhaps 5.75. I use the ergdata app during rowing to monitor DF and it was right around 110 (which was my goal) Yet when I look at my uploaded log data, I am seeing DF numbers nearing 200, even though I never ...

Re: Training Complexity and Beginner Pete Plan

All good points. This is of course the blessing and the curse of all this data -- both from the erg and readable online! I was mainly bringing up the prompt in the BPP to lower my stroke rate and in trying to figure it out, saw that my recorded DF was radically higher than what I saw while rowing vi...

Re: Training Complexity and Beginner Pete Plan

So to be more specific: 1. Should I increase the damper setting to lower the DF? 2. What is the best way to approach lowering my SPM to align with the BPP recommend? I have tried a brief "pause" as I start recovery, but it does not feel ideal for building a rhythm. 3. How should I think about the ot...

Re: Training Complexity and Beginner Pete Plan

I am using the ergdata app and uploading it without any problems. I have not upgraded the pm5 software, but find it hard to imagine it would cause such a delta.
