Re: Pete Plan Thread

In 2nd cycle Pete? Consensus among those who’ve done Is that 3 or 4 cycles is about optimum for sustained speed+endurance gains @ 2k and middle distance (5-10k). At some point you’ll meet the fatigue monkey. Worse than the chimp in the central governor, the fatigue monkey doesn’t accept rematches. ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Forced stop at 3k, then voluntary HD at 3750 and 4000. The 4K one is annoying as 2k to go feels like the home stretch. It was hard going, but my form/breathing were ok.

Re: Pete Plan Thread

3 attempts to PB at 6k this week, and 3 HDs (first enforced as I had to deal with a wailing toddler, but next 2 unnecessary). My calves feel fairly tight today, so think I’m a bit dehydrated, but it’s mainly the inner chimp winning again. So, should I give up on the 6k and move on with the PP, or pe...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Really good continued progression, boomingaway. I hope I’ll see the same.

I struggle to fit 6 (or even 5) rows into a week. I’ve tried skipping the steady state rows, but I quite like them so I think I’ll stretch each PP week to 10 days or so.

Re: Pete Plan Thread

It’s a bit hot and sweaty in the UK (or at least my bit of it) this week, so after a SS 11k on Monday, I’ve only started cycle 2 of PP today 8x500m. [Cycle1] 1st - 1:43.6. [1:44.1] 2nd - 1:43.2. [1:43.8] 3rd - 1:43.7. [1:44.3] 4th - 1:43.6. [1:45.0] 5th - 1:43.6. [1:47.8] 6th - 1:43.7. [1:45.7] 7th ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

I’ve not had a great week, with not feeling 100% and work getting in the way of leisure, so I’ve only managed to compete the two intervals sessions from week 3 (though the second one took me three attempts...) 4x1k 1st - 1:49.0 2nd - 1:48.4 3rd - 1:48.4 4th - 1:47.9 Average - 1:48.4 —- 3k, 2.5k, 2k ...

Re: LiveRowing iOS App: Support Thread

Hi Lake

I’m on LiveRowing but not sure if the challenge function works - haven’t tried it yet. Feel free to try my username: jimbo3030

I don’t think it’s a live race - more like your effort becomes my paceboat when I row.

Re: Pete Plan Thread

I’m suffering with hay fever as well, Booming, though mine is generally getting me in the eyes rather than lungs. Did a SS 10k yesterday in 40:44.6 at 22spm. Felt pretty good, but I think I’ll slow it down a bit and start building up to an hour. Hard 5k today, with a PB of 18:53.7: 1k - 1:53.8 @ 24 ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Good work everyone. 4x2k cycle 1 2k - 1:54.6 2k - 1:53.6 2k - 1:53.4 2k - 1:57.7 Av - 1:54.8 Had an H very nearly D moment in the final interval, but didn’t want to get a reputation on here so carried on after a few big breaths. I had set my pace boat for 1:55, so hit that with my average even with ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Thanks - I’ll try them out. I’ve no excuse for bailing in the last 1k - I tend to split it into 10% chunks, and it’s obviously no time at all to hit the next mini milestone. But once I’ve planted a seed in my head, I find it so hard to over come it. I’ve never really played competitive sport, so I d...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Good to see the progress that people can make after a few cycles. I finished my first week with a good (for me) 10k in 39:44, then bailed on a 5k with 750m to go when I was way inside my PB. My mind gets in the way. So if anyone knows of any apps where you can program a coach to yell at you after X ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

[Slightly in awe of the 10k time above, but will post anyway] Continuing my first week, after the 8x500m I had a rubbish semi-“distance“ of 6k and a bit, which I abandoned as I wasn’t feeling it. Then today I tried the 5x1500m which felt pretty good: 1st - 1:55.8 2nd - 1:54.8 3rd - 1:55.0 4th - 1:54...
