Re: P/AR all-time 2k leaderboard

One of the American Olympians is 40 and about to compete in her third Olympics. I'm not sure what her erg performance has looked like over the last decade+, but I do wonder when age-related decline starts for someone consistently training. That question is complicated by the fact that better traini...

Re: P/AR all-time 2k leaderboard

It's going to be really hard to get widespread buy-in for a ranking system that places Rich Cureton above Josh Dunkley-Smith. In essence, P/AR scoring yields a 'healthy ageing ranking'. As such it is intended for athletes who are well 'over the hill'. Athletes in their early thirties or younger are...

Re: P/AR all-time 2k leaderboard

Your reply made me check the World Records for slides vs those for static rowers. It appears that for very short efforts (100 m and 1 minute) slides give a distinct advantage. This is most pronounced for 100m, and less so for 1 minute. For longer efforts the static rower records tend to be faster tha...

Re: Why i love the Skierg

If someone was going to buy one machine only (and that was their primary workout activity) , yes the rowerg is a better option for more of an overall workout, but for my situation, the Skierg is king. Since two months, next to my RowErg and BikeErg, I also haves a SkiErg. So far, after 350+ km on t...

Re: P/AR all-time 2k leaderboard

So far I've just followed C2's practise of considering slide-results to be a different beast, and hence I always filtered on 'static Rowerg' results. Unless there would be consensus on slides not providing any advantage over static Ergs, I would like to keep it like that. A more pressing issue is th...

This was on slides, right? Currently the list does not include 2k's on slides (nor on the dynamic C2).

SkiErg Half-Marathon Seasonal Challenge

Are you a SkiErg enthusiast and keen to know how you rank against others? I've created an age-corrected seasonal half-marathon ranking (using the P/AR metric* described elsewhere on this forum: https://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=205949). The current ranking you can view here: https://drive....

Re: SkiErg first impressions

[*]I cannot reach the same level of power/pace I can do on the rower. Not by a mile (or two). Don't know if it's me (as in my technique sucks), or me (as in I'm all legs and that's OK on the RowErg but a tragedy on the SkiErg) or just me (as in I need more time to get better on the SkiErg). I am us...

Re: Lifetime meters by type

I think C2 made an error when implementing the ergathlon functionality. Each RowErg meter (regardless if realised as part of an ergathlon or otherwise) should count against the lifetime RowErg meters. The same for skierg meters and bikeErg meters. So there would not be any need for a separate multie...

Re: Lifetime meters by type

I forwarded the question to Concept2. As far as the million meter clubs are concerned, all meters accumulated as part of Ergathlons are lost. While ergathlon meters do count towards the lifetime meters (under a separate header 'MultiErg meters'), they don't count towards the RowErg/SkiErg/BikeErg mi...

Re: Is Meters/Stroke a Useful Metric?

The meters/stroke metric suffers from being highly dependent on stroke rate: you can reach almost any desired meters/stroke figure just by dropping the rating. A much better metric therefore is energy/stroke (Wattage divided by stroke rate).

Lifetime meters by type

Lifetime meters are recorded in the C2 logbook by type: with separate aggregate scores for RowErg meters, SkiErg meters and BikeErg meters. But there is also an aggregate for MultiErg meters. Does this mean that e.g. the meters rowed as part of ergathlons don't count towards the lifetime RowErg mete...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Hi all, I am considering doing the Cross Team Challenges this year on a SkiErg (rather than on a RowErg). I know this is already been done (e.g. by team 'Ski Erg'), but I wonder how to treat rate restrictions like the one that applies this month. Are SkiErg users supposed to adhere to the same rate ...
