Re: Heart rate too high?

Higher heart rate is pretty normal on the rowing machine compared to other types of cardio. Is that so? I can only get my HR up to 170 on a very fast interval and not for long, on the erg. However, just yesterday I went for a run for the first time in a long time, since Im away and there's no erg i...

Re: Why are new ergs half-price in Germany?

I tried buying one of those a few months ago, cause I thought it`s Amazon, worst case itll get cancelled. And thats what happened. After a few days Amazon cancelled the purchase, no money was transferred at all. If you take a closer look, its always sold by accounts that havent had any sales in a lo...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I did it! Yesterday I finished my first half-marathon. Thank you Arnie (and Netflix) for keeping me company :D didnt even stop for a drink. <> Really well done. The HM is such a long way; finally seeing 0m on the PM is a great feeling. And then you look at calories burnt. :) Thanks! Absolutely, it'...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Friday was a shorter, faster (for me) session. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 24:55.5 6,000m 2:04.6 181 922 25 That was pretty dann hard towards the end. Dunno why or doesnt show my heart rate. Yesterday a long, slow training again. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 1:30:00.0 20,124m 2:14.1 145 7...

Re: Short and overweight - realistic goals?

Is it OK if I use this here as some kind of training journal? I somehow need to share my efforts/achievements with someone, and there's no one in my family or friends who rows and could appreciate it you will probably find the "What training …" thread here more useful and supportive than this singl...

Re: Short and overweight - realistic goals?

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 1:00:00.0 13,493m 2:13.4 147 807 23 152 That's from today. Last 2 minutes I went for a nasty, nasty, nasty sprint (for me) at 1:55 - which, after almost an hour, was hell. Still missed the 13,5km by just 7 meters/1 goddamn stroke. Damn it. Is it OK if I use this her...

Re: Short and overweight - realistic goals?

I already did 2:14 last week, so 2:10 might not be ambitious enough :)
Think I might aim at 2:05 for 60m/ 14,4k, seems like a decent goal

Re: Short and overweight - realistic goals?

For only a 6 month program, I think it might be overly ambitious. Why not target a stepping stone to it like 2:05 or even 2:10 first. Does it really matter? If you put in 6 months of training you will be fitter than you were. How much fitter is impossible to predict but you will be faster than you ...

Re: Short and overweight - realistic goals?

What you might want now is weight loss; I find even 5kg too much is a pain to carry around all day every day. Long term it can only cause problems, not least in joints and discs. That´s def the plan, 10kg finally have to go. Fortunately I´ve never had problems with joints so far and I carry the wei...

Re: I found my holy grail

Thanks for your posts guys. I hope I will stick to rowing longerm. I have looked up RowPro before, maybe I will use it in the future. Yesterday I did my first 10k in 47 minutes, week 4 of Petes Plan recommends only 6,5k, but I just cant get enough. Woke up today and first thing that crossed my mind...

Short and overweight - realistic goals?

Hey guys, I´m new here. I learnt rowing at university and did some - really only recreational - rowing 1-2 times per week for the last 3 years, so I should at least have the basic technique. However due to a job change my days on water are even more limited to prob. once or twice a month. For christ...
