Re: Raw data vs C2 log graph & summaries (ErgData)
It can be too easy to get carried away ... To each their own ... Based on everything I’ve learned about the data system and collection hardware, what exists now provides the majority of rowers enough data with acceptable accuracy. Significantly improving the accuracy would require far more electro-...

Re: Raw data vs C2 log graph & summaries (ErgData)
Did you ever get answers anywhere regarding a white paper that would explain all this? I have also noticed some strange things in the stroke data CSV files where pace numbers and stroke rates don't match the time and distance data. It seems for one thing the time stamps in the file are rounded but ...

Re: Does a higher damper setting make you go faster?
This is still clear as mud to me. In order to bring it into terms I can grasp, someone please answer this: -My damper setting is 130. I am outputting 120 watts at 25 strokes per minute. -My damper setting is changed to 150. Will the following occur? a) I will output >120 watts if I maintain 25 stro...

Re: Does a higher damper setting make you go faster?
I've just entered the world of rowing, so I'm pretty sure this is a dumb question, but should I be working toward hitting a race distance at a higher damper? I thought I read it's similar to bike gears, and if that's the case the fastest you can go is at the top gears. Damper@1: like rowing with a ...

Re: Monitor drag vs. Ergdata drag vs. logbook drag
Wondering if anyone can advise: I use a Model C I got from someone who had only used a few times (i.e., in pristine condition), and retrofitted it with both the "quiet kit" (chain, cog, bearings) and with a PM5 monitor. It's been a pleasure to use, but I've found one odd thing - the drag factor tha...

Re: Explanation of drag factor
“Paul Smith's old ErgMonitor program...” Is this program available anywhere, and does it require surgery to interface with the PM? Or does it even interface with the PM? I, too, spend down time figuring out not only the physics, but the usefulness of display data, especially in ErgData. Most recentl...

Re: ERG Data
"PM5 power curve"? I have not yet discovered that feature. I will look for it and probably have more questions. Thanks. Force curve. I stand corrected. Scroll through your display options on the monitor and visit https://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/tips-and-general-info/using-the-force-...

Re: ERG Data
On a slightly different topic I wonder if there is a way to determine what my "Drive Length" should be based on my, perhaps, arm length and/or height? Optimum drive length Is probably best determined as a coach watches and corrects your technique. Realize also that your Drive Length will also chang...

Re: ERG Data
If you’re rowing a fixed distance, Score will be a time. If time is fixed, it will be a distance. Just Row score is distance.

Raw data vs C2 log graph & summaries (ErgData)
The raw data CSV data does not match the logbook graphs, nor the interval summaries. I created a workout with 500m/undefined rest intervals and rowed 7 intervals. The first interval - a 500m warmup - took 2:28, but data collection continued past 500m - four data points past 500 (and later seven poin...
