Re: Footstraps slipping
It's a technique thing. You're pulling against the straps on recovery rather than rolling back to the drive. Or you're pulling some crazy high power (1:25pace) stroke or such-like. Traditional advice has been to loop the strap through the bukle twice. If it still pulls loose then replace the straps...

Footstraps slipping
Hi maybe it is just my set up, but after a few minutes my foot straps loosen off a bit. Maybe I don't need to but I give it a few big pulls and then ease off to tighten them- this plays havoc with my focus and rhythm, but I hate having loose straps and I feel it slows me down. I wondered if I could ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Not a personal best but completed my first half marathon yesterday. I wanted to beat 1:30 but was a bit overcautious and then wasn't strong enough to pull it back. Did 1:31. Next time I will go for a higher split knowing I can keep it going. Pretty tough effort, like a 50 mile time trial cycling. I ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Ha, my Cda was always crap Paul. :D Finding the erg more fun than the turbo, in fact just doing outdoor rides now and will save the intervals until the Spring. Impressed by your 60 min time - and I am aiming for a 1:30 HM so 1:21 is really good. You don't mention on your post your 100 mile TT medal,...

Re: chain slip on C3?
Thanks, it is Model C!
Looked up part for one way bearing and it's 22 quid, so will check chain first. It's not making any noise.
Thanks again

Chain slip on Model C
Hi I recently bought a second hand C3 from eBay. Last night, when I pulled hard on the handle, the chain released without any resistance, and I scooted back very quickly - fortunately no harm done but it happened again a few minutes later. It does dent your confidence a bit because now I keep expect...

Re: Progressing to faster 2k
Blimey the thought of double the interval at same pace does not seem possible; I will have to go to 1:44/5 splits I think.

Re: Progressing to faster 2k
Okay thanks. Consensus seems to be longer intervals rather than higher pace. ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Re: Progressing to faster 2k
Thanks that's really helpful. I presume r means rest in minutes?
I think I am going to have to go to 1:43 splits for 750m or longer, and then try and speed up when they get comfortable![😄](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f604.svg)
Some impressive times/distances there.

Re: Progressing to faster 2k
Hi I use a Garmin heart rate monitor from my bike. My max HR was tested on a ramp test at Bath Uni in 2014. Once a year I do a retest which involves a cycle turbo simulation of the ramp test. It is not 100,% accurate but close enough. From time trialling I have a good idea of exertion and have been ...

Progressing to faster 2k
Hi I am getting back into erg after a 10 year lay off. I was a cycle time triallist but had knee injury and used erg as it didn't affect my knee whilst recovering. I am 50, 6 2" and 90kg. In the past did some reasonable times, 17:53 5k, 37.28 10K and 8070m 30 mins. But a long time ago! My 2k was nev...
