Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
I'm glad ombrax posted with an alternative perspective. He is on the money really. In 20years of erging, I can't remember when I have rowed for more than 30mins. Maybe I did 2*20 once upon a time. I occasionally do 30' these days, but otherwise the total (work) time is under 25min. My 'entertainment...

Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
Ahh..not being a user of ergdata (pm3) I had not realised it could be used to upload. That's reassured me that ergdata + pm5 is probably a more reliable experience with the online log book.
Cheers.

Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
Should have mentioned Nick that my weight (70kg) was already there in my online profile, part of the reason for my confusion/disappointment

Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
I have some uncertainty about the pm5 / online log book, maybe those with more experience can advise I decided the other day to upload my current workouts recorded on my PM3 log card, into the online log When viewing in the online log, it had not recorded the workouts as LWT (lightweight). I subsequen...

Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
Thank you @MPx very helpful to see the graph. I think my data collection habits may indeed have to change, but such is the price of progress
@Carl Watts, I think I'm heading towards zwift/rouvy etc at some point too, looks like a PM5 will help my interest in the meantime
Cheers

Re: Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
Further questions re PM5,as I look into this in more detail I export all pm3 workouts periodically to CSV,and I have them organised(and sometimes graphed) in Excel Could I do the same with PM5? I notice that select workouts I've uploaded from pm3 (via concept 2 utility) to online log book can be dow...

Big thanks for the replies and the discussion
You've helped me decide my next purchase will be a pm5 kit (with the tablet mount) for my existing model D
Cheers

Staying interested (upgrade to pm5/apps, or bike smart trainer?)
Not sure if Training is the correct sub forum but.. I'm finding rowing against the numbers is a bit tedious at times, and would like something with more engagement and competition I could swap my pm3 for a pm5,and get some interaction via apps (e.g. ergdata loop, exr). Though, I like having a log ca...

Aging & Drag Factor
Hi all I am interested in others experience and thoughts on adjusting drag factor as your years advance. Have you steadfastly kept it the same, over decades? Did you feel compelled to adjust it, specifically to compensate for the effects of aging? I've kept it (pretty much) the same for ~20yrs, but ...

Undelete / recover deleted workout from logcard PM3
As above really, i accidentally deleted a workout from my logcard, is it possible to recover it ? Just a single workout. Logcard was not backed up recently / no online logbook. I presume the workout data is still on the card but has been flagged as deleted so does not display on monitor or CSV downl...

Re: Calculator for age-related 2k decline?
I read somewhere, possibly from a link on this forum, 2k decline averaged about 2secs per year. Lots of variables to consider, but that was the broad brush conclusion that stuck in my head.
Doesn't make me feel any better about my steady decline though!

Re: Ergdata additional fields (painsled rowsandall.com)
Just a shout out to the painsled app which i have started using recently Captures lots of useful info, and does not prevent the workout from being stored on the C2 logcard As was mentioned further up this thread, www.rowsandall.com can be used to upload the exported painsled csv files, to provide gr...

Re: Strength or Aerobic capacity, which goes first as we age
Nearly 53. My experience in last 16 years of owning my own C2. Referring to a benchmark of 90secs on, 90secs off, *8 Best (2006, aged 38): 3520m Latest (this wk): 3360m I don't do this routine too often, maybe couple times a month. So about 10m loss per year though of course thats not a straight lin...

Re: Altitude & Drag Factor
The most significant factor is the amount of dust in the flywheel cage blocking the holes around the outside of the cage. A really dirty Erg will see about 90 with the damper setting on 10 so that is hopeless for most people. As above typically in the 110-140 range is what your after except for the...
