Bikerg, Damper Settings, Grade
Bikerg, Damper Settings, Grade This may not be a straightforward answer, but figured I'd ask anyway. I just got my bikeerg today (also have the erg,) and was wondering if the damper settings can be matched to a specific grade? I live in the rocky mountains and need to train on various grades to be a...

Re: declining or is this normal?
Tried to focus more on intervals the last couple of weeks. I threw in one long row, just to be sure I was still able to do it. I'm seeing some improvement time wise, but I'm thinking I'm putting forth much more effort as I am teetering out sooner. The one I did today left me feeling like I wasn't ge...

Re: Altitude & Drag Factor
Yup, its not an issue, was just curious where others were at altitude.

Re: declining or is this normal?
Makes sense, I do tend to look forward to the intervals more, and it seems easier to focus on form. On the longer ones, i tend to focus when will this end!

Re: declining or is this normal?
Had my wife record me at various intervals of my 7500m today and they made me cringe, especially later in the row. I'm starting to dread the distance increases... which is somewhat demotivating. After watching the videos, its clear my form is holding me back. I seriously want to get my form correcte...

Altitude & Drag Factor
Was wondering what others drag factor was at altitude. I'm at 8300 feet, and below are my drag factors. This is a new concept 2, with about 177k on it.

Re: declining or is this normal?
7k today and a little better. I tried to figure out what is giving first, and for me, it seems to be more general fatigue before breath.

Re: declining or is this normal?
Thursday I did another 6500 meters, but it was a full 40 second slower than the last one. I hear folks talking about lactic acid build up, but I dont seem to have that issue later in the row. For me, it's more like the drag factor was turned up and everything just slows down. Good news is I'm not de...

Re: declining or is this normal?
Do you mean three x 10 miles per week: 50k? The OP mentioned 2/3 x 7k. I suggest around 30k. Minimum health suggestion seems to be 1.5 - 2 h/week, just over 20. Our choice. What do yo mean by "Minimum health suggestion seems to be 1.5 - 2 h/week, just over 20.?" I'm attempting to do Pete's beginner...

Re: declining or is this normal?
Could this be an exacerbation of your leg weakness you mentioned in your other thread? If so, perhaps you are over-training between your rowing and weight training. You will always find your current limit eventually so it's normal. Stress, lack of sleep, diet etc all play a part in your performance...

declining or is this normal?
I'm on week 5 of the Pete's beginner plan. A somewhat modified plan, as I'm alternating 2 and 3 days a week rowing, with some light strength training on other days. At first, I seemed to be making progress, but last week (week 4), i failed to do 6500 meters on the 3rd day. I pooped out at 4k. I trie...

Re: Rowing and body shape
All very good points... I completely forgot about the calorie surplus when contemplating this. I realize that the more and more I stay on the erg, the more and more calories i burn, making it more difficult to retain muscle mass! I suppose it wont hurt to try some things, such as one day a week for ...

Rowing and body shape
I recently got back into fitness about 10 months ago. I've been primarily focusing on weight training, but bought the concept 2 for my cardio days. I'm slowly realizing that I'm enjoying my rowing workouts more than the weights, but I don't want to give up the physique I have managed to obtain at 48...

Re: Looking for training advice
I used a band on the track to limit myself from going too far forward. At some point on my last row, i stopped feeling the band on most of the recoveries. When trying to lean forward more, I'm sometimes getting contact with my knees on my chest. Is this too far forward? After reviewing the above vid...
