earphones and hearing concerns
Hi all I use earphones when erging (podcasts, motivational music, etc). However, to hear it comfortably over the noise of the erg and sometimes fan as well, I pretty much need it to be top volume. I row for 20 to 40 mins every 2nd day. Anyone else do the same and worried about eventual hearing loss!...

Re: Fly wheel stop before racing?
As others have said already, the effect of an "early" start, after waiting only one minute, on the total time is negigible for a 2K time trial. I will show below that it is also hardly measurable for a 100m sprint. If you would know the speed of the flywheel at the start, you can calculate its resi...

Fly wheel stop before racing?
When I go for a PB my routine is maybe a 5 min warm up, 1 min break while I plug in the distance/time, and then go for it. However, this means when I start racing the fly wheel is still moving (albeit slowing down) and so the first few pulls would be easier then if it were completely stopped (which ...

Re: Difference between normal 30' v 30' 20SPM PB
Just wondering… My 30 minute PB is 8003m (typically at 27-28 s/m). However my 30 minute, 20 SPM, PB is 7500m. Just wondering what this says about me as a rower? I have more endurance than strength? Etc? Any thoughts...or is a discrepancy this much normal? Thanks Weight=78kg. Height=179cm. How many ...

Re: Difference between normal 30' v 30' 20SPM PB
Since I am new(ish) to this sport and also not very experienced when it comes to any sport requiring power , can someone tell me why people like rowing at 20 spm? It is so slow and awkward for me. I don't even know how to row that slow without stopping at the top of the rail. My heart rate is like ...

Re: Weight Categories
ahh I'm not surprised it has been discussed before. I wil browse the forums
And yes, I can easily be a leightweight. But then its the same issue in terms of unfair comparisons, but now I have the advantage. Though I should point out people 10-15kg less then me can certainly leave me for dead.

Weight Categories
Has there ever been any thought to having more weight categories on the C2 logbook? I can only guess the light/heavyweight categories are like that for a reason (Olympic categories?), but it often makes it hard to get a true comparison to others. I’m spot on 76 kg and would be much more interested i...

Re: Estimating 2km time from other pieces - any anecdotes ?
Thats a fun link, it was fairly close to estimating my Pb's But I also wanted to say, winnieweiser, your weight and Pb's times are incredibly similar to mine. But you've got me on height (I'm 5 foot 11). your goals are similar to mine, except I'm not sure if I'll get to sub 18mins for the 5km. At th...
Breathing
Been rowing for about 9 months now, and continue to make improvements on my techniques and times. The wealth of information on this forum is fantastic. However, one thing I just cant “fix” is my breathing. The C2 website advice for breathing (link below) is essentially 1-2 breaths per stroke, and ex...

Re: How long from 7:30 to sub 7?
I think so It took me 6 months to go form 7mins 30seconds to 6mins 59, though this was def newbie gains (I think I'll hit my best at 6min 55). I'm 29 years, 74kg and 179cm. Your height and weight suggest you can def go faster. Losing 30 seconds is a lot at this distance, but if your dropping 15 seco...

Stretching before and afterwards
Hi all I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for stretches before and after erging. I am familiar with the Concept 2 recommended ones (link below for those who are not) but wondering if anyone have any routines they swear by and would like to share. I imagine there will be some light rowing thro...
