Re: New rower - What to do?

Here's the post I referred to above. Hopefully you'll find some value in it.

Re: New rower - What to do?

One of the toughest things for me to initially grasp was how everything works together in the stroke, legs>hips>arms>arms>hips>legs. It sounds simple enough, but in the absence of any in-person coaching we're just trying to learn from text and videos and I was really having a time with some aspects ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Completed BPP 4-3 today and just went over 100,000 meters! Not bad considering I never rowed a stroke in my life prior to getting my Erg April 3rd. I'm loving this piece of gear, I can feel a definite difference in my health even after such a short time!

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

BPP 1-4 no straps, and I adjusted the vent by .5 to get a drag factor of 128 (up from 119). I clearly see what I was doing wrong now and was definitely pulling with my arms too early. Got a good push with my legs and used my arm pull later to finish the drive strong. I can see where you can't do thi...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

That being said, I'll repeat, with feet loose in the straps, make sure you aren't lifting your toes at the end of the drive. Try to row strapless too, as well as with loose straps, at low and slow rates, but be careful it takes a bit of getting used to. So I tried messing around without straps and ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

That being said, I'll repeat, with feet loose in the straps, make sure you aren't lifting your toes at the end of the drive. Increasing your drag to 135ish might work in your situation to help get a better feel in your legs, maybe it will cut back on your dependence of the arms because it'll be con...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Finished workout 3 from week 1 of the BPP, had the erg a week now. I think I'm finally starting to get a good feel for what a consistent level of effort should be but I don't think I'm taking full advantage of my legs on the drive. My arms and shoulders feel like they're doing plenty of work, but I ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

You'll make fast improvements on the erg by the sounds of it. You're pacing yourself reasonably I'd say based on that posted session. Double-check your rowing form with the C2 video, check to see that your toes don't try to lift up when you hit the end of the drive - if they do that means you're lo...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

The control is there, nice consistency. What's your height/weight/age? Any cardiovascular activities in your past? I'm 5'11/214lb/50 (180cm/97kg), yesterday was my birthday, the erg was my gift to myself. For my build I could stand to drop 25-30 pounds and intend to do so. I'm career military but h...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I got my erg last week and started week one of the BPP today. I had some left in the tank when this was done but I'm still feeling my way around the machine as I've never rowed before and I'm not sure how to pace myself yet.

Re: Pete Plan Thread

I did all 5 workouts each week throughout the plan. I couldn't find the answer either, so I worked them straight down. I took rest days when my body felt like it needed a break. At first, I think I recall them after the 2nd and final 5th workouts. So, days 3 & 7 were rest. Eventually, life got in t...

There's an explanation for each of the 24 weeks.
Yes, I saw the explanations for each week and still had the question.

Sometimes I just need to be told what to think lol.

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Welcome to the thread! Good question that I've never seen answered. The first three rows are mandatory. Look at your week and figure out if you only have time for the three mandatory rows or will be able to complete all five sessions. Pete does warn new rowers to not overdo sessions early on. The B...
