Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Did the 8x500m w 3:30 rest again. Averaged 1:43.3 that's an improvement of over 3 seconds the last time I did this workout so I'm pretty pleased. It's not that bad actually. I dread the 4x1k much more, that's one heck of a painful workout I gotta say. I've planned a 2k test next week. Do you guys th...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Hi guys! haven't posted in a while. Been busy on the water, atleast 3 times a week I'm in the boat now. It's really hard to follow the Pete plan with all these boattrainings. I've had some rough weeks where I didn't finish workouts, I've been mentally very weak, hard to find motivation been tired fo...

Re: Ask Me Anything: Strength Training for Rowing/Erging

Hey, can you explain to me the benefits of benchpress for rowers? In rowing we use the back, but we don't use our pectoral muscles am I right? So why train the chest in the first place? I think all rowers train their chest so I'd love to know why this is so important.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

This was the first time I've really tried to get a pb on the 10k. I got 39:36.0 (1:58.8) Did it with rate 28. I'm sooo tired writing this. That's intense haha. I'm hoping I'll get a sub 7 2k soon but for now I don't think I'm ready just yet, I was planning to try it at the end of march but I think I...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Why would the rest be long if you don,t need it? You give the answer yourself. Well the plan advices to go at 5k pace. I went considerably faster than that, so I still don't get the amount of rest. Next time I think I'd better go at 2k pace. I'm just learning these workouts I've never done a pyrami...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

second week of Pete plan! Did the pyramid workout for the first time. I don't know. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it didn't feel all that great to me. I averaged 1:48 at rate 30. Maybe I didn't push myself hard enough but the rest seemed really very excessive. Especially those 6 minutes after the 100...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Went for 3x10min at rate 20. First 2 sets averaged 1:58 (I have a 750m rowing race tomorrow otw so I decided to take it easy the first two sets) Last set did a whopping 1:52.1 which is a pb for me! Yeah I'm happy after months of stagnation I'm seeing really good results now.

Well done. Keep them coming!! Thanks! I will, next week I'm going for the 10k! I'm already dreading it haha Woo Hoo!! Congratulations, that is very good time. Thank you :) My first 1k test ever tonight. Was after a day off, and I did a 20 minute low intensity warmup before attempting. Definitely fl...

Re: Serious student rower looking to become better

Why am I getting that old feeling that the other shoe is about to drop? :?
Well, you're going to have to wait a long time, that shoe ain't droppin' =)

They are excellent coaches. Three of them were competitive rowers (every day boattraining, not allowed a drop of alcohol).

Re: Pete Plan Thread

One of my coaches made me do 4x500m w 2min rest. Averaged 1:52.4 (not that fast but still recovering from monday a tiny bit) Had to get used to 2min rest. I'm used to more rest the 2mins def made it harder. Cranked out 1:42 for the last minute of the last set though! I had no idea I could go that fa...

Re: Serious student rower looking to become better

It will be greatly to your advantage going forward to have one of your coaches (or an experienced rower from your club) look over your erging technique from time to time. Fitness on the machine is all well and good, but you don't want to pick up bad habits in pursuit of erg speed that won't work we...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

PP day 2: went for a 60min r20 but I didn't feel great at all. Could hardly maintain 2:30, wheras I normally get 2:20/2:25 pretty easily. I almost gave up 30mins in.

Maybe Trained too hard yesterday? Or is it common for some days that the aerobic base training feels hard?
