Re: New buyer looking for advice
Jason, I'm a new owner of both the rower and the SkiErg having bought both in November; I also have had a very nice elliptical for five years, and a decent weight room at home. And a membership to my climbing gym for the last four years. It depends on what you want to accomplish from each machine, a...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Back on the Pete's Plan Wagon! Between work travel and prioritizing my climbing days, it's been two and a half days since I've rowed, and I've only done the SkiErg intervals. Nine climbing sessions and three strength training sessions managed - but that isn't moving my rowing forward. it was pretty ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Quick accountability post before work. Set a target of 2:20 for intervals with rest. Achieved, but not with even effort on the intervals! Still went out too fast, though I slowed down enough to keep the first one from blowing up entirely. Second interval, a more moderate pace, closer to target. The ...

Congratulations on finishing! You give me hope, here at the BPP 3 end of the spectrum.SowfLondonRower wrote: ↑January 18th, 2019, 11:03 am
Getting to my news... I just completed the 24th and final week of the BPP! (Only 3 sessions this week so it feels like a slight cheat but I'm gonna take it)

Re: Pete Plan Thread
An unexpected treat- I was going for steady state for 6000 at 2:22, and nearly made it ... and then noticed my actual time is a personal best! Just by a few seconds, but I'll take it, especially since it wasn't the goal for today. Of course it is much easier to show improvement when you are a beginn...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Sounds great! I also completed BPP 2.3 yesterday for 5500m at 2:14 r22. This was a nice warmup for me prior to my barbell workout at the gym. I don't have any snow here to shovel in Florida. That's a nice time, especially since yours felt like a warmup! And I suspect most of your stroke rate actual...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Back to my rower! Had to make several adjustments between work and snow, since I last logged the rower on 1/12. In the meantime, though, I did several other workouts: SkiErg 4000m, three climbing sessions, strength work, and a handful of mobility exercises. It also took me about two hours to shovel ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Today, BPP 2.2. I was aiming for 2:21 and an even stroke rate, but don't yet have enough control to hit a time. I'm getting better at maintaining stroke rate though! Three out of four intervals were right at 25, with the first at 26. That is progress.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Hello all! Back to week two of BPP - very glad I reset to week one. BPP 2.1 26:10.7 5500 2:22.7 23 s/m I gave myself permission to "maintain" a pace with a "feeling" of evenness rather than watching my monitor as much... that made a difference. NOT a positive difference :) I won't bore you with ever...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Happy start of the first weekend in 2019! For the experienced BPP folk, do you find it more beneficial to set a goal of completing the three "required" BPP workouts in a week, or to stretch your "week" into ten days and do the 3+2 workouts? Or did you ever repeat a week? I learned quite a bit about ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Wow, so glad I reviewed the BPP instructions after getting everyone's advice! Consistency was far harder than the longer distance or even keeping an even heart rate. Two identical strokes in a row was a victory. My goal, 2:27, roughly the average of my last 5k+ row, and getting my stroke rate to 21s...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Well... I did 5min yesterday, 5 min the day before... and, dove right in today. BPP 1.1 = Beginner Pete Plan, week 1, day 1. I typed it out because I didn't know what that meant when I started a year ago on the rower. I was also over 230lbs a year ago. https://i.imgur.com/cAFpeY2.jpg?1 Nice work, R...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Happy New Year everyone! Your posts inspired me to go back to the BPP, and rethink my approach. Based on that, I've taken a half step back into Week 1, the intervals step. With some trepidation and after a fight with RowPro over custom intervals, which I "won" by going back to the PM5 monitor for th...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
This is really important to remember but a very simple trap to fall into. "If your low stuff is too high, your high stuff will be too low" - Pete Reed. For 'low' it means easy low rated sessions, so leave your ego at the door and embrace going slow to get faster, admittedly it's sometimes harder th...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Hobbit, the SkiErg purchase came as a partial impulse buy … if an expensive piece of equipment is an impulse buy, basically I decided against a bike … and wow, wrestling it into the house, then down to the basement, then setting it up solo was an adventure. It's a cool machine, definitely a great co...
