Re: Madness 2019!
Went to bed on a Thursday night, woke up Friday with the flu and that was all she wrote for me for 2 weeks. I didn't row very much for 2 weeks of March. When I finally started rowing again it was slow work. Really low stroke rate because I was so tired. I finally just feel about 80-85% so we'll see ...

Re: February Follies 2019
Thanks ladies re 1/2 marathon. I know some folks do the full or 100K and that sounds horrible. I felt like I was seated wrong from the get go or found that one bony spot. Thankfully after awhile it just went numb  I felt like I kept good form for the most part but I definitely hit a wall around...

Re: February Follies 2019
Just finished my second half marathon and all I could think the last 5k was, “why?!” And when will this end. There was a lot of hurting. Afterward my legs felt like baby giraffe legs. 1:45:56.4 - 3 minutes faster then last August. I don’t remember August hurting so much. 2:30.6/500m 26 s/m I was sup...

Re: February Follies 2019
2k today was EHHHHH :| Only 4 of us tried it this time, myself and 3 fine gentlemen, one being the 7 minute guy. We were all sitting, unplanned, in a diamond shape. I joked/half serious that I needed to move over a spot so I could get a better draft on the 3 guys. Anyway it was ok and I finished 12 ...

Re: February Follies 2019
The other day in the mail I received nice little surprise from C2 - a 200,000 January meters pin. Woo hoo! Just finished the Valentine's challenge so I'm staying steady. The Mud Season Madness sounds like madness. I think I can do the 5,000 a day but 10,000 might be a little much. I'm trying to do a...

Re: February Follies 2019
The SkiErg - yuck. I do it at the gym but not my favorite. It's a lot better than the Air Bike which I hate with a burning passion. My row group is doing another 2K on the 15th and a half marathon on the 23rd. My first and only half marathon was in August 2018 at 2:13:00.0. Not quite sure ...

Re: Holly's journey
As a 50 pound weight loss girl myself I've found what works for me diet wise (and we're not all the same): 1. I have to avoid anyplace with a drive thru because nothing good happens there for me. 2. I can't do diet soda because that leads to all the other bad stuff. 3. I have to try to limit sugar b...

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
Greetings all! I managed to shave another couple of seconds off my pace, and finished my race with a 2:23.3 pace. Which was enough to get me 1st place in my class. Well that and the fact that the other woman registered didn't show! :D  :D  A couple of friends, who are part time rowe...

Re: Holly's journey
Best of luck to you, Holly! No matter where you start that first step is the hardest. Don't be hard on yourself on the journey. Some days, weeks you'll feel like a rockstar. Some days, weeks you'll want to throw in the towel and use the rower as a towel rack. 3 years ago and 60 pounds heavier.....My...

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
No apologies necessary. I honestly don't even remember which one I signed up for except it was the everyday one.

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
I totally admire people who swim. I took years of swimming lessons as a kid but one major water up the nose incident and I've forgotten everything I ever learned about swimming. Are you training for a triathlon or just like to do different activities? Our group's 2K feedback: 7:35 - guy went out at ...

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
So 2K done this morning at 6:00 AM. Warmed up a little with the group and then off to the races. I was hoping for under 9 minutes and finished at 8:47.5 with a 2:11.9 average split. I felt pretty good about that. I've never completed a 2K so a lot of it was in my head. I did realize that during my r...

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
Hope everyone is doing well with their challenges. So far I'm 14 out of 14 days and counting down the days. One of my less than stellar rows today - felt some forearm tightness most of the way. Doing a 2K this Friday with a group and nervous/hopeful about it.

Re: January Challenge(s) 2019
I signed up for the Big Stretch. Think I can manage it although I'm doing my first timed 2K on the 18th. I may not want to row after that if it goes poorly.
