Re: Longest Continual Row Record attempt
Have you done this yet? If not, just using my own experience from a marathon row I did a few years ago. 1. You'll need a LOT of fluids; just for my row, I had 6 bottles of water lined up, all with caps off, so I didn't need to stop and twist the caps off. 2. I don't see a way around it, but you're g...

Re: Weight loss / Type 2 Diabetes
With regards to diabetes, it's my understanding that the single most important thing after watching your sugar intake is weight training. As the muscles grow, there's more room for the body to stash the glucose. As far as your progress on the exercise, I would be wary of increasing from 30 minutes t...

Re: How much data do others trace/analyse?
I tend to go nuts with numbers, as it can take my mind off the discomfort and sometimes, the tedium of the longer rows. On the slow-steady state stuff, I measure my sleep from the night before, the temperature in my garage ( I have to keep the garage door closed to keep the wasps and other annoying ...

Re: What is better 2*5000m with a break or 10,000m or something else to lose weight
Let's back up for a moment and take a look from further back, so to speak. There are 24 hours in a day. Rowing is excellent, but even if we row every day for 60 minutes, depending on how fast you row it, and your body weight and composition, the calories burned and the type of weight loss (muscle, f...

Re: Moving a rower around - will it damage it?
So, there's no reason to expect any damage from moving a c2. For what they are, they're relatively light. Anyone that would "drop" it, they probably have no business picking things up over 50# in the first place. The real concern is that the garage is likely not climate controlled. In some parts of ...
Re: Gloves
When I was using the tape, I was rowing 2x a day, every day. Generally 10k per session. Sometimes, I'd just row 1/2 marathon instead of a 2x a day. I can't answer the question about the tape glue being removed from the handle because I haven't removed the first application of it yet. It's been there...
Re: Gloves
I used to use gloves. Heh, they wore out. For a time, I used the beige Nexcare waterproof tape, but as great as that stuff is/was, it can get expensive, particularly if you row every day. So, what I have done is wrap the C2 handle with that same waterproof tape, and it's fantastic. No blistering, no...

ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I never thought I'd want to go back to the first version (or at least the only version I've ever known) of ErgData, but every single time I use the new one, it drops connection mid-workout. I'll be one-handed rowing, trying to mash the screen to get it to reconnect. And it will, but it starts the wo...

Re: Muscle Gain as a Lightweight
... I encourage folks who want to put on muscle mass to lift 3-4 times a week, and row on days you don't lift. More common would be rowing hard 2-3 times/week and stacking 2 days of lifting on the same days as hard rowing . Then filling in one or two rest days and several long rows each week. This ...

Re: Muscle Gain as a Lightweight
I'd like to chime in and offer what I think is a more accurate information with regards to progressive overload. Pushing to absolute failure needs to be defined as "Absolute failure is reached when proper form is no longer maintained". So, when lifting, you stop lifting when you can't maintain prope...

Re: First (and Failed) HM Attempt
Well, as far as sweating goes, I promise you, I sweat more! Sweat is just the body's way of cooling you down, and given the temperature lately, if you didn't sweat several pounds/kilos, I'd be even more concerned. Others have mentioned, so no harm in one more voice. First time doing a HM, the only r...

Re: Max heart rate
For me, I have to wonder, what difference does it really make? I tend to lift weights, changing things up with reps/sets. For rowing, same kind of thing. Some longer rows, some sprints, some intermediate. Is knowing the Max HR really going to change how hard or how long you row? Suppose I think my m...

Re: Workout doesn't save to logbook after app update
If my firmware were out of date, I would think the app would have let me know when I opened it and it connected to the rower. That's the way the old ErgData worked.

Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
I cannot believe I've been waiting and waiting since I heard about ErgData 2.0, and this horrible trash is what we get. Granted, it's free to use, so no sense in complaining, but it doesn't even work. I set up the workout, begin to row, and nothing happens. Then I stop set it up again, and then it w...
