The PM5 design goes back to 2014 and does NOT play nice with a lot of USB flash drives - it needs low capacity, low power draw USB2.0 sticks.

TL;DR: doubling up two Concept2 pads is great. You could use a cut up a yoga mat for material as well, with cutouts for your sit bones.
