Re: How do age rankings work when your birthday is halfway through a season?
I don't think that's right in the context of this thread James - more pertinent to [some] race meetings. When I last went up an age bracket in the 2018 season all of my ranked pieces were put into the higher age bracket because my best times were set once I'd passed the milestone birthday. I think ...

How do age rankings work when your birthday is halfway through a season?
Hey all, My birthday is coming up in 8 months and I'll be moved up to the next age bracket. One of my arbitrary goals for myself by then is to see how many top 10's I can end with before my big milestone birthday. But if I bump up to a new division in September, with the season having started in May...

Re: Summer Solstice 2019
Not sure if anyone checks this old thread but curious, I saw the person with the most meters for the summer solstice 2019 challenge was "glenn r smith" who rowed a shocking 300k+ which is well above the world record for 24 hour row in his age division. Is this indeed a new world record, or does the ...

Re: How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
I also used a cut up yoga mat in a pillow case to sit on, but I waited until it got really uncomfortable before I usee it. Luckily that is about two hours for me. Don't use it to start with as it loses its relief. Very interesting idea! Only about four squares though; any more and you're sitting to...

Re: How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
Noted :) How about the nutrition side of things? Specifically curious about what you'd consume during a 12 hour (though I don't plan on doing that myself) simply because that length of time crosses pretty much an entire day's worth of normal feeding. Are liquid calories from sports drinks mixed with...

Re: How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
You're very welcome. Don't hesitate to pester me for more advice or just to let us know how you're getting on. It can be a lonely world when you're doing ultra distances What's your personal stance on resting? Do you schedule any strict rest breaks, 1 minute every hour or whatever, just to stretch ...

Re: How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
Very slow for that pace, 17spm tops. I would probably shoot for a much faster pace, thats just to slow and will result is way to much seat time. 2:30 or 2:40 feels like your doing nothing. I think this is a fair point about just adding extra seat time. My thought was to set myself up for success by...

Re: How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
I didn't find stroke rate variations helped much and I just settled on what felt good, which was usually r21. Considering I have always felt more comfy at r28 (I did my first FM at r28) I think this is quite reliable even though I'm taller than you. Your strength has to be used to your advantage so...

How to find most "efficient" stroke rate for SLOW pieces
Hello all. I have quite a specific question that I'm hoping someone has some insight for :) I'm planning on rowing my first 100km on the erg next spring at 5'8 242 lbs (173cm, 110 kg - my main sport is powerlifting) and shooting for a quite modest 2:59 pace (60 watts) simply to challenge myself to s...

Re: SkiErg 2 Handles
Came across this old thread and was fascinated, hadn't thought about swapping anything out on this one. Has anyone made progress on this since April? Fairly interested in giving the ski erg marathon a go next spring, and would love to know if there's anything that would make it a bit more comfy

Ergathlon Error
Hello all, I have made this post in the General forum but am now thinking perhaps this would've been the more appropriate place to get responses? Apologies either way, feel free to remove one if needed! I just installed the beta firmware on my row+ski+bike combo here to do the new ergathlon category...

Ergathlon Error
Hello, I just installed the beta firmware on my row+ski+bike combo here to do the new ergathlon category. I set it up on my rower, then joined on my ski, then joined on my bike, and all 3 monitors were ready to go. I completed the ergathlon in that order, with each monitor still being there on the r...

Re: Advice for accelerating faster?
No goal RPM on a 200m. You can really only get a fast first 100m with a very high resistance, so it’s really just a case of ragging it as hard as you can off the start. My 1:11.5 PB is 1:14.0 for the first 100m and 1:09.0 for the 2nd. RPMs were 90 & 105 respectively for each 100m. With regard to an...
