FAQ
Doug: My question would be though, were they that fast in the fall of their senior years? The athletes ought to continue getting faster through that fall and into the fall of their frosh college year. Another item I would say is that I was thinking in terms of general attention and possible support ...

JBell, I'm going to have to agree that you are not likely to be a lightweight in college. Certaintly not a natural one. Have no fear, follow your head coach's training program and you will get fast. The most important aspect of this however will be your "off-season". The winter and summer are key. Y...

The calorie counter on the C2 erg is calibrated for a 170lb male. Pretty sure that C2 can provide you with a conversion formula to find out how much you are burning. Give customer service a call.

Regarding other forms of aerobic equipment, it really depends on what weight they are using t...

Given your age, go heavyweight. You are probably still growing some and will be able to add muscle reasonably easy at this point in life. Heavyweight rowing is more fun anyway. You get to have beach muscles and never need to diet.

Had a guy on my college team who was like that. For 4 straight years, every time he did a 2k he would go under 1:30 for the first few hundred meters and then blow up. Damn fool never caught on that if he raced smart instead of trying for a world record on each attempt, he would have broken 7 before ...

From an aesthetic point of view.....probably not much. IMO body fat % will have a much larger impact on muscle tone than the resistance on the fan. Do you do any resistance training outside of rowing? If so then I'd definitely say it will have no impact.

FAQ
Jim,

I'm only a few years out of college but I have to tell you, I also have had something of a 180 in the way I view the 2k. Used to make a big deal out of it. Now a days though, I just view it as another fun piece that challenges me. Shift in attitude makes a difference in performance t...

FAQ
The reason the basic college rower won't do this in some ways comes down to a difference in the view of erging. For many on this board, erging is a sport with competitions and titles to win. For most rowers it is solely something to do in order to win on the water. What one pulls at an "erg race" is...

Interesting little tid bit. Unless I'm mistaken, Todd Jonah-Geddes has pulled that exact time (give or take a tenth of a second) for the last 4 years. Love to know what's going on there. In any case, most Harvard rowers do not show up. More of a freshman thing to my understanding.

BTW, Da...

FAQ
If you want to be noticed by a big school you will need to minimally break 6:30, preferably break 6:20. If you do not come from a traditionally fast program, you will want your erg score to be that much faster.

Why not contact the RCA directly and find out if they have any information on safe suppliments? Seems like something they ought to have already addressed and figured out.

You should know that a stress fracture may not show up on a normal x-ray. If I remember right an x-ray with contrast (dye injected into the body) can be required to find the fracture. Correct me if I'm wrong here Ranger, but you use this as a base training SS piece? When I sat and thought about it, the piece struck me more as a highly intense AT piece. Given the drop in your HR during rest, does the avg HR/pace come closer to SS or AT?

I'm also curious about your impl...
