6:50_wannabe,

Running can help, but sometimes going for very long distance isn't too great for rowers who are tipping the scales due to height, musculature, etc. Maybe try some sprint training on the track (200s, 400s, 600s, 800s - if you have the opportunity) instead.

Pretty m...

I try to keep my mind occupied by working out my average pace based on metres completed, doing splits in my head, and other general mind-numbing activities. Normally it's not that bad, but yesterday's hour was soooooo boring it was unbelievable.

There's music in the background, but it's s...

For a training week of 10-14 sessions, normally all but two or three of them will be easy sessions (for me, avHR between 144-155). One of these is an erg interval session, and the other two are normally a 3.8mile run and a sprint session on the track.

Xav

Cheers Phil.

I'll probably do a 4x750m, 4min rest interval session at some point in the next few weeks, and will be looking for 1:35-1:36 average.

Fingers cross I should be able to get 6:28ish. Would be very happy with 6:27.

Xav

I'd suggest keeping up the 20spm work. I can consistently beat all the other chaps at college (as in the collegiate system at big universities in the UK, rather than the entire uni) on the long spm capped stuff, even though I'm usually giving away a couple of inches in height, and as much as 10kg in...
