general recommendation for resistance training breathing is 'exhale on exertion' ... i'd imagine that would apply here as well

but like i tell my clients ... as long as you are, you're ok

Over the past 14 months, I've been gradually increasing distances/times ... I'd done 2 half-marathons in the two months previous, and I'd built up through August with the 'Dog Days' challenge.
