Thanks for the photos Rick. And, thanks for putting on another fabulous, low key race!

The reason for the quint versus the standard 8, is that we would have to extend the chain of ergs out the door and into the street. The Newbuyport traffic control wouldn't allow us to block the street f...

Marilyn,

If you are going to adjust scores, please use the maths from the nonathlon. I totally agree with what Citroen (Dougie L.) says.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

If you can't find anyone on-line, either race a downloaded file from your worst enemy, or race a previous row. You will probably find out that you are your own worst enemy.

There is always someone to race if you include downloads.

Cheers,

Paul Flack
I also entered this post in the news section, but thought many on-line rowers may not see the post there.

About ten days ago, a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor asked me if he could come out to my house and ask some questions about internet racing. I agreed and showed him how it...

About ten days ago, a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor asked me if he could come out to my house and ask some questions about internet racing. I agreed and showed him how it all worked. I also let him experience rowing against someone in Germany in a 500m race. The story he wrote appears o...

HM are good practice. When you get halfway in the marathon, you know that you can easily do 21K.

Go slower than HM pace from the start. You will still be feeling fairly fresh at the halfway point.

Raise or lower your feet halfway through. Add a seat pad. Change your stroke ever...

We could do a "drop out" race. The pace would be 1:42, each of us would start at that pace and hold it until we have to drop out. It would be a nice painful way to finish the year. Plus, anybody could join.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

I like the idea of a later race too. I don't row too well at 5 AM. Thanks for scheduling the race later in the day, I should have no problem keeping up with you, young Mr. Pirate.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

Pirate, your graph shows demons present after the 1/2 way mark. Way to hang tough and finish. Some days you just don't have the energy to keep pulling at a race pace.

Better luck next time, (Friday?)

Paul Flack

1:16:52 was my time. I saved my RowPro file in the rankings in case anybody wants it as a pace boat. I had to use my rankings code, so it must be one of the top times for my age group.

It was a tough row. I can't believe that Jaap took off at a 1:45 pace. That is asking for trouble. I am not sure of the start time. I will have to check on that when I have some time.

The media tends to cover different and crazy things. We will be set up right on the side line, directly in front of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. By the halfway point in a several hour broadcast, the TV ...

I figured that the competition thread would be the proper place for the Boston Marathon since it will be a venue race. I just added it here for those international e-rowers who might only look at the e-row forums. So, now they know where to look if they are interested in more information.
<br /...

I thought that we would start with the men's start at 10:00 EST and then we would be half way through when they are half way through. We would be finishing about half hour to an hour after the first runners cross the finish line. We could see this on a TV? About that time would be when thousands of ...
