Re: Heart rate on long pieces for performance
A good starting place is 70% of your max heart rate. Also, I think intervals every day might put you at risk of over training. Thanks for your quick reply. How long should it take for me to reach the target of 70%? Normally it takes me about 10 minutes before my heart rate is at that level. It stay...

Heart rate on long pieces for performance
Hey all, just wondering what my heart rate should be on longer pieces, considering I am erging twice a day and do not want to overtrain. Long pieces is typically 9-14Km so 40-60 mins. At about 18SPM. I am training for performance, not fat loss. I am 17, 65Kg and my heart rate is normally about 148 a...

If you could only do one workout...
If you guys could all only do one workout from now on, but could do it as often as you wanted, with the sole purpose of reducing 2000m erg time, what would it be and how often would you do it? Mine would probably be 8x150second pieces at 2s slower than 2k split with recovery equal to rest. Also, jus...

Jensens model help
My best 2000m time is 7:03.8 though it's currently at 7:14 According to jensens model, this should give me a current 60 minute average split of 1:59 Today I held 2:03.5 for 40 minutes and that was a PB. My PB for an hour would be quite a bit slower than that. Do I need to train more endurance? If so...

Re: Murray's heart rate
I'm 17 and today I did 40 minutes at average 183bpm peaking at 202, and that was pretty hellish. This guy can maintain a high cardiac output because of his youth and conditioning.
So I think the rest is definitely conditioning.

Murray's heart rate
Hey all, when Eric Murray broke the world record for one hour on the erg, after 10 minutes his heart rate was over 190 and it peaked at 201. 50 minutes at heart rate 190+ would absolutely kill me. Obviously this guy is an olympic rower but I thought that he would just be more efficient for a given h...

Help me break 7 and get to 6:45
Hey all, I'm 17, 65Kg, 176cm. Current erg time is 7:14.8, which is my season best, I did that yesterday. Best erg time was 7:03.8 at the end of last season about 6 or 7 months ago, when I was 63Kg As part of school rowing we train 6 days a week, normally two sessions a day, sometimes three, sometime...
