Re: Interval training

I looked at the 2K plan this morning and then after work this afternoon did the TEST and did 2K in 8:23.4 I am not sure of the 500m splits as the display was set too Watts when i took the picture and just realised. Average of 176 Watts though but am not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. Ha...

Re: Interval training

Hi HPJ, How about setting a target for your good self? It works a treat for me. Maybe work towards 2km in 8 mins for example, and tackle that by doing 500m intervals at the 2 min pace. Allow recovery time sufficient for heart rate to drop below 2 times resting heart rate. I have found if I can do 8...

Re: Interval training

Thanks for the comments and the links which I will read in detail. The times are accurate as (sad I know) I take a photo of the display after each session to compare. A work colleague pointed me to the pete plan and I did the first 500 intervals this evening. I did 9x500m at an average of 2:09.8 Wi...

Re: Will the 2K Program get me fit?

Ok I'm at UT1 intervals right now in the 2k program. How much rest between intervals? As an example 2X10' UT1. If you are using a heart rate monitor, one convenient rule of thumb for any type of interval is to wait until your heart rate gets back down to twice your resting heart rate. Of course thi...

Re: if only one fitness equipment allowed at home

Go to rosstraining.com and check him out. He is a no nonsense and no bs trainer. His stuff is very low cost and he has many "do-it-yourself" ideas, instead of buying expensive equipment. I have his book/dvd "Full Throttle Conditioning", it cost me less than $20 I believe. I just bought "Never Gymle...

Re: if only one fitness equipment allowed at home

You can get in great shape with body weight exercises and very limited equipment. "Never Gymless" by Ross Enamait is a great book about working out with limited equipment. Most important part is the work you put in. The book looks interesting. I've been lifting weights for about a week and I'm not ...

Re: Another 2k test suggestions

One method to give yourself a target is to use a Paul's law calculator to predict a 2K time for you. The way it works is you enter your time for a specific distance, say a 5K row, and it will give you your "expected" time for a 2K. It's not perfect, but should be pretty close. As far as how to mana...

Another 2k test suggestions

Hello all I've been doing to 2k interactive program and it's time for another 2k test. Of course hopefully I'll beat my original 2k test. Since I know what 2k time is from my original test on the 1st day of the program, what is the best way to do another test so hopefully I can beat the original tim...

Re: Weight Training Help

Re: Gym & At-Home Workouts - Improving your time of the Erg

Nice little video by Esther Lofgren. It is incredible the amount of hours of training needed to compete at that level. One thing I noticed when she is erging is that her shins on the catch are well past vertical. And she is world class. I would like to urge caution on anyone deciding to start a hea...
