Re: PM3 Issues
So the new pickup reads 110 ohms, and the magnets seem fine. A couple more quick things I could suggest you check: 1) PM3 has a 3 conductor (stereo) plug. C pickup has a 2 conductor (mono) plug. Make sure the plug is inserted all the way in. 2) If this doesn't work, use ohm meter and make sure the p...

Re: Concept 2 Model D old vs. new difference in rowing
I was curious to see what my 2004 D does, so I set up DF about 110, and did a 200W last pull. I got 3:51. At DF 80 I get 4:15, so it doesn't change much. Chain is oiled, but I have not gotten around to oiling the roller clutch yet. I would say the flywheel reversed just a hair before stopping comple...

Re: Type of oil for the rower chain
I noticed Accel 60318 is a non-detergent SAE 20 100% mineral oil, sold in quart bottles, and I was planning to give it a try sometime. There's a seller on ebay selling a bottle for $18.75 with shipping, though amazon occasionally has a box of 12 avail for around $35 (3 gallons!). 12 bottles would be...

Re: Concept 2 Model D old vs. new difference in rowing
I don't believe differences in moment of inertia are causing differences in spin time. I think what matters for flywheel spin time is static balance. Dynamic balance may matter a little. I had a Model C that had a flywheel that would spin a very long time before stopping. It has some rust issues so ...

Re: How low can you go with strokes per minute (rating) ?
The HR monitor seems reliable. The whole point of staying in UT2 is to be able to do volume every day. When I let my HR creep into UT1 I feel fatigued the next day. If I stay in UT2 I can do more rowing the next day. Over time I'm going to try to increase the amount I do every day. I have not tried ...

Re: How low can you go with strokes per minute (rating) ?
I did start out around 30spm, and only by watching technique videos figured out how to bring my spm down. So I definitely do not naturally go slow. Accepting what HR limited UT2 gives you requires you to be egoless. I'm not that big (5' 7", 150lbs), and not that fit (yet), so staying in UT2 gives me...

How low can you go with strokes per minute (rating) ?
Hi, I've been trying to build an aerobic base with long UT2/Maffetone rows. I've only been doing this a month so after reading lots of forum posts and watching many videos, I've been trying to go slow with good technique. I'm trying limiting my heartrate with a HR monitor and I've found that my rati...

Re: New (to me) Model C with Rust/PM2 issues
Yeah it will be indoors and dry. If the rust is stable I won't bother with it, since it's just a little and more a cosmetic issue than anything else.
Cheers,
Don

New (to me) Model C with Rust/PM2 issues
I've just got a Model C and I've been lurking and searching this forum for maintenance tips. I've cleaned the rail, lubed the chain & sprocket, fixed corrosion off the PM2, and lubed the flywheel roller bearing. There are a few gray paint chips that have fallen off the front section of the rower, in...
