Drive with heels or toes?
Everything I’ve known from my powerlifting days tells me to drive with my heels. Always. I notice some people’s heels come up in the catch so their initial drive is with heels up - driving through toes initially. Even the way the foot rests are set up on the erg suggests heel lift is appropriate. Is...

Chiropractor or physical therapist for posture issues?
I have posture issues I want to get sorted out with professional assistance rather than just stretching. Cost difference between the two doesn’t make a difference to me. I have imbalances everywhere t seems. My body feels crooked, one leg shorter than the other, forward head posture, anterior pelvic...

:30/:30 intervals beneficial?
I started doing BPP in February and was making ok progres but then I hit a tree snowboarding and fractured both wrists and bruised my ribs. Today was my first day back after a while off and I tried the 30/30 interval session. I was able to get a much stronger power output, consistently even after 30...

Knee brace reccomendations
In looking for reccomendations on a compression style knee brace for comfort, support and protection during sports. Snowboarding, rowing, bike riding etc. what I’ve found online is braces ranging from 8$ to over 100$. I wouldn’t mind paying for an expensive brace if it is actually worth the money co...

Re: Squeaking after 20k meters
Thanks Carl. I should’ve specified, I know it’s hard to tell with the video but the noise is coming from the chain pulling mechanism.

Squeaking after 20k meters
Just got a brand new model D. I only have 20k meters on it and today I noticed a squeaking noise when I started rowing. I put some 3 in 1 oil on the chain before today’s session but it’s still there. Here is a video of the noise. Thoughts?

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Thanks for the tips. I originally started rowing at a higher rate around 28 SPM and posted a video of my form looking for tips and somebody told me I need to be aiming for 300W at a rate of 20, that's why ive been sticking to that (obviously not able to get 300W at this point)

Re: Pete Plan Thread
How should I vary stroke rate according to the different workouts? For example yesterday I did 6x500m/2m rest and was at 20-22 SPM with a 1:55-2:00 500m time which is about the most I can do right now and still be able to complete a session... Do I want to use that same rate no matter which im doing...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Hi Idahomike, welcome to the forum. I've always just done the BPP sessions in the order they are printed...on those weeks where I time out then I drop one or two of the ones in brackets assuming these are the less critical ones. Having said that I have done the full 5 in most weeks unless i'm trave...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
question about BPP. Here is week 1. the optional workouts are in the [ ] brackets so im wondering where in the week you would put them. Do I keep them as the last 2 days or do I put them between the other workouts? for example Week 1: 5000m 6 x 500m / 2min rest 5000m [20min] [2 x 10min / 2min rest W...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Thanks for the tips! I printed off Petes beginner plan and am going to try that 5 days per week with lifting 3 for now. And yes the rower is a replacement to the bike, I may use it every once in a while but for now its gonna be put on the back burner. Ive actually been using it as my cool down after...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Is the pete plan right for me? I am not interested in doing any races. I love fitness and pushing myself which is why I bought a rower. Im looking to lose weight and maintain great overall fitness and gain some lower body power. I currently lift weights in my basement and ride a stationary bike 5-6 ...

Re: Workout guidance and advice needed
Thanks for all of the responses.' James, you say to aim for a rate of 20 does that mean 20 SPM? So what I am gathering is to slow my SPM down and aim for more powerful leg drive? Is this the style that most people use no matter what the goal is ? I did some searching and a lot of people recommended ...

Workout guidance and advice needed
My background: I did 4 years in the marines where I became obsessed with running and would run about 40 miles per week and lift weights daily. From there I joined the power lifting team and lifted competitively for about 3 years and got up to 235 lbs @ 5'11" I no longer run or powerlift but I have a...
