Re: PM2 monitor available
Don't want to post it on Ebay. Thought to offer it here as this is THE place for rowers to hang out. It is a standard PM2 monitor. The battery compartment is clean as had no evident spills, was working just fine when I replaced it with a PM3. I have no idea what they are worth, but elsewhere on this...

PM2 monitor available
I have a working PM2 monitor available for anyone that needs one. Upgraded our model C with a PM3. Rather than having it sitting around for years, I thought I would post it here to see if anyone is interested.
Thanks,
Bernd
Thanks,
Bernd

Re: Sample Diet Plan?
Don't know if the comment about difficulties finding foods was in regards to my post.
I rather think it was just a more general statement?
Surely!

Re: Sample Diet Plan?
Sorry, Jamesg... I whole heartily disagree. IMO, WAY too high on carbs... Sure prescription for metabolic syndrome in many folks that follow such a diet. Along with the concomitant HTN, Dyslipidemia, increased Uric acid, insulin resistance, to name but a few. I posted a link to Dr Peter Attia's pres...

Re: Best pre and post row meal to power me through?
Kate Ackerman's presentation is quite good. It may answer a lot of questions. Now, depending on goals, you may want to change it a bit. Obviously, general dietary choices are important...I recommend low carb, good fats which means high in omega3's, 1 to 1.5 GM per kg protein from good sources (not C...

Re: Fat loss with rowing
Oops, sorry Duffy. I will definitely get you the link. I have the study in my metabolic syndrome folder... I will post it here tomorrow. Essentially the issue is that in order to get glucose into cells you need insulin. In individuals with metabolic syndrome there is a degree of insulin resistance. ...

Re: Suggestions for arthritic knees please?
I am 57 also, physician, with awful knees due to a lifetime of use and abuse in my former sport. You describe the classic osteoarthritis knee with medial compartment deterioration. I used to be able to pass a goofball between my knees while standing, now it's more like a baseball B) As for rowing, I...

Re: Healing a lower back injury
Agreed with cyclingman. Max weights don't just require the muscles, they require the ligaments and tendons and even the bones to be up to par too. And, first and foremost, perfect form. No physician will give you advice on what to do now that you have injured yourself without a proper diagnostic wor...

Re: Fat loss with rowing
Abe's, success is not measured by anyone else, but by you. You are just beginning, so don't ask for others to judge you already. Obviously, you have set yourself goals. At 5'7 and your current weight you obviously recognize that something has to change. Given that you say yourself most of your fat i...

Re: Bluetooth Smart Adapter for PM3/4
Maybe it's a little of the topic at hand, but I want to comment on the last post. I too purchased a polar H7 heart rate belt. Before I purchased it, I contacted Polar to see if it would be compatible with some of the older exercise equipment that is Polar ready, but doesn't use Bluetooth technology....

Re: 55-59 HWT WR in play
Sincere Thanks for clarifying. I just see so much criticism all the time, and want to choose my time to support these amazing efforts. Obviously, not everyone can row even close to times like the ones discussed in this thread. I find them awesome, and have huge respect for the amount of work require...

Re: 55-59 HWT WR in play
Awesome times. From any of those guys. My hat goes off to any of those three. It's inspiring and motivating. If the "age group switch showing up" comment is meant as a criticism, then I would perhaps consider taking it back. We should all be so good at our age to be even close to that goal. It helps...
