Re: Mixed Rower / BikeErg Training Plan?

I also have both the rower and the bike, but I've been disappointed in the bike. I can go bike for an hour, and when I look at the stats I can only think "shoot, I could have done that in 30 minutes on the rower" or "I could have done twice that number in an hour on the rower". I just seems like I h...

Re: disappointing, and yet very satisfying season

~25km per week if my maths is any good? bit more to allow for some weeks off? How many times a week do you get on the ergo? I reckon if you try to get in a 10Km session once a week and then make up the rest in shorter sessions you will hit it easily :D Good luck! 4:30am is early. But that's really ...

disappointing, and yet very satisfying season

The 2018 / 2019 season was a disappointing, and yet very satisfying season for me. This was my first full season on the erg. I began rowing in January of 2018, and hit my first million meters in November of 2018. At that time I had fully expected, and planned to complete at least 1 million meters in...

Re: Noob errors from a newbie, some tips & encouragement

This thread caused me to look back at my rowing history. Lemming's introduction describes me fairly accurately. I'm 42 (soon to be 43! ). I'm 6'0 and weighed 189lbs on January 2, 2018. That was the first day I ever sat on a rower. I had no clue. My first week of rowing, I was doing 10 minute...

Re: I have bought my own erg

I guess I'm cheap (considering that I own my own erg...), but I don't see any reason to purchase the phone holder. I just set my phone on the floor leaning against my laptop. I don't need to have constant eye-contact with the phone during a row. The PM5 takes care of slowing down time already. Also,...

Re: HR zone / workout question

thanks for the input.

I think I'll work on backing off on those SS sessions. It really is a mind game. That little guy on my shoulder is constantly yelling in my ear "faster! harder! push, push, push!".

thanks everyone.

Re: HR zone / workout question

thanks for that info Lindsay.

I should have included that I think my max is ~187 (haven't ever seen it go higher than that with my HR monitor during interval or TTs).
My resting is somewhere around 55 - 60.

HR zone / workout question

I've been rowing since January 2018. I lost 22 pounds in the first 4-5 months, and have since hit a plateau and hover around 167lbs (6'0"). My pants fit again. I wouldn't mind losing a little more belly fat. I know my diet needs work. I've changed my workout routine the last few months. I row Mon, W...

Re: ACL reconstruction rehab / erg question

...Her surgeon wanted to wait until she was done growing. This was over a decade ago and I'm guessing the technology has changed (a lot has in the last 10 years). Our surgeon believes that my daughter is done growing -- and we (my wife and I) think that he is correct. For this reason he is recommen...

ACL reconstruction rehab / erg question

My 14 year old daughter tore her ACL (and MCL) a couple weeks ago playing basketball. We are currently looking at surgery in December (bad time of year to try to schedule a surgery!!). It sounds like she will be undergoing a bone-tendon-bone graft. She's having a hard time with the realization that ...

I hit a milestone yesterday morning: surpassed 1,000,000 meters! Hopefully just the first of many.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I decided this morning was a good day to go for a 2k row. After a 10 minute warmup, I proceeded to take down my previous best (7:51.9 @ 1:57.9): 7:44.9 @ 1:56.2 pace per 500M 1:56.3 1:56.9 1:56.0 1:55.8 (not sure what happened on that second 500m, but got back on track for the rest of the pull) I sh...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

not sure if this is PB or PW: Heart rate hit 186 today during a 5x1k / 1'R (on my last rep).
That was rough, but I finished with a faster split than my previous 5x1k. :)

Re: Thoughts to while away 60 min row

When doing longer, less intense sessions I like to throw on the wireless headphones and watch the tv Netflix. (or Amazon, or any other streaming service) Currently wrapping up season 2 of Ozark. Gotta figure out what I'm going to watch next. I'm thinking I might sneak in a movie (Hold the Dark) pri...

Re: How many meters do you have this season and how are you doing on this season's goals?

I'm currently sitting at 454,224 for the current season. I started rowing at the beginning of January 2018. I am on pace to hit my first million meters in the first or second week of November (6 weeks!) and should end the calendar year with almost 1.2 million meters.
