Re: Forum Flyers

Not on the machine for a month for various reasons - work, life and cataract surgeries. The 50th reunion of the university class of '74 was worth it of course! I therefore have done a slow 1km to float the first boat - almost embarrassing @2:28 pace just paddling along. will have to go for it later ...

Re: Forum Flyers

very quiet here indeed had a go at the Tabata challenge - predictably hard work. took 5 minutes to set up on the Pm! not sure how to pace it so went a few intervals first and then decided that I could stay under @1:50 as a goal. 2211m @1:48.5 was the result - MHR was pretty high too so happy enough ...

Re: Forum Flyers

well done Anna
I managed a 6k today as well @2;07 very steady but worked hard enough to get the MHR up close to max so pleased enough.

the other good thing about the 6k is that it is a C2 ranking distance so one that we can compare with others

Re: Forum Flyers

I think all of the recent rows have had total distances around 2000-4000m, so I was thinking a shorter single sprint would be fun, like maybe just 624m. But I don’t have strong feelings, 6x240m and 6240m would also be good. (I have a hip labrum tear so personally not excited by a longer row at the ...

Re: 1k pace for a 7min 2K?

In particular i wonder if (as a 52 year old 61kg featherweight) I could contemplate shooting for a 7 minute 2k, or does that sound completely out of reach. Sub7 is a real test but is definitely possible. My mate Rod Stewart is about 70kg and did it at 70y more than once - although he was right at t...

Re: Forum Flyers

My April training was very limited by work commitments unfortunately with staff on leave - worked every day bar 3 in the month! Managed the May challenge yesterday and had to work hard to get 3511m. Maybe one later in the month will be better. Yes Anna we have the pleasure of choosing the next CTC! ...

Re: Forum Flyerson his 89th

Todays session of my 10k plan was a 20 x 1min/1min rest, but restricted to 20 spm. Therefore I registered the first 13 intervals: 3,118.0 @2:05.1. Our first boat is floating. Surely I will repeat the challenge with unrestricted rate and 'only' 13 intervals to row. I am afraid that Terry is out for ...

Re: Forum Flyers

did the challenge today
13x1'/1'R =>> 3529m @1:50.5
room for improvement I hope!

5 boats for March was pretty good
I am afraid that Terry is out for a while - medical challenges that are unresolved for now

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

What is a/the CTC? This is rowing vernacular I am not familiar with… The CTC is a long standing competitive monthly virtual challenge between "clubs" that are spread all around the world. It is about to have a new home on a rebuilt site I understand www.c2ctc.com takes you there clubs compete to se...

It helps to have some showoff opportunities. Had to correct that this morning solo but first was slowest @58.2 - will try to get bac...

Re: Forum Flyers

HNY to all. and welcome to our newcomers great to see you here. Due to the miracles of world time zones I have been able to complete the challenge already for the first time and now I just wait to see if I can be the first entry. #145 in a row I think Did them all around @2:08 pace - 4th was the slo...

Re: P/AR all-time 2k leaderboard

Since I've become aware of P/AR just a few months ago, I've almost gotten obsessed with moving up the lists [2K, 5K]. Way easier said than done. Right now TJO dominates, which confirms my contention that he is by far the top older rower who has come along. Jim I'm with you - what TJO did in his 60'...

Re: Forum Flyers

i agree Rick it's not much fun to go hard but quite a good session to get anerobic and probably good for 2k.
Terry and i had a good go at it tonight (my second) and improved a bit. Got fairly close to MHR - 165 (170) Did @2:02/2:01.7.
Terry was @2:03

unlikely to do again though!
