Re: Need opinions on my time

Do you think the time or meters is off, or both? The time you can check yourself, with a watch, don't you think? As to the distance, you actually aren't going anywhere at all, even on a Concept2, now are you? That your machine translates work into distance differently doesn't mean it's wrong, or cr...

It's the same as inches to seconds.

Re: World Record Age Brackets for Older Rowers

On another issue, it seems reasonable to drop the weight categories for 85+ and up. For men, at least, the weight advantage seems to disappear at around 85 - perhaps earlier for women. I would not be happy if that change were made, but it does make sense to me. Bob S. The sample of 85+ ergers is so...

Just rowed; 20,000 meters, water break every 3,000, rate 20-22, average pace 2:28.

Re: Building the Basics

Today I did a warmup then five 500 metre pieces. I kept the spm at 24 through out and I averaged 2:54/500 metre power. Holy smokes is that crappy! I must get a much more powerful pull! Well, remember you'll be 60 soon. 50th percentile on the 2015 women's lightweight 60-69 list is 9:30.4; that's 2:2...

Hello yourself! I'm just across the strait in Sequim, WA. Does "average weight" mean under 61.5 k? Very important question in this sport.

The referenced PDFs do not support your contention. Rowers are not ignoring their upper body. Just looking at a top rower should be all it takes to see that. On, and it's 20% body, 10% arms, as usually stated.

This does not logically follow. Is there an unstated minor premise to your syllogism?

Re: New rower looking for advice.

. . . drive off strongly with the legs on the toes . . . Why with the legs on the toes? I ask because I have had to give up running for erging because of foot problems, specifically what feels like permanent stone bruises at the bases of my toes. I push with feet flat on the plates, and the footpla...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

What is a standard workout? To me, a workout is anything that you do. Well, it's a workout on the list on my PM3 labeled "standard workouts"; the first one on the list. No mention of rest time between intervals. 1 minute. DF 110, stroke rate 25-26, 15 minute warmup, too slow to need a cooldown. For...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

After 2.3 million meters of just rowing, I finally did a standard workout, just to see what it's like.
10x500 meters @2:18.
Not a struggle.
Do most people rest completely or row slowly on the rests?
