Re: Supplements and anything else to help with a 2k attempt...
Thanks for the congratulations. It was a pretty grim row. (when are they nice?). I took a pre-workout supplement from one of the online protein suppliers which had a mix of things in it - main one being caffeine. I haven't been on the creatine long enough to benefit. Completely agree about the place...

Re: Supplements and anything else to help with a 2k attempt...
OP - nothing legal will make that much difference IMO... ... ...nip the habit of HD (handle down) in the bud should it rear its head. Thanks a lot - much appreciated. What do you mean by "handle down"? I still dip "to get the oar out" 15 years after last going out on the water - is that what you me...

Re: Supplements and anything else to help with a 2k attempt...
Thanks. I'm fairly happy with my weightloss so far, and my rowing has definitely been coming on. I'm really just wondering if there are any supplements or other tips for things I can do the day before and and the morning before having a shot at this. @Dangerscouse - when you say "I don't bother with...

Thanks. I'll look into the beetroot!
After that pb all those years ago, I stumbled out of the boathouse and threw up on the road! I'm definitely harbouring a concern that in my current gym the c2 machines are too far from the front door to make it outside in time!

Supplements and anything else to help with a 2k attempt...
Tl;dr - What supplements will actually help? After 15 years out of exercise, last September I decided to have a go at getting back into some sort of shape. I'd have never thought it possible until a few months ago, but now I'm seriously contemplating having a go at beating a 2k PB I set all those ye...

Re: vo2 max calculator illogical results
You've hit the nail on the head there I think. I emailed Concept 2 without much expectation of a reply, so I was pretty impressed to get a response less than 24 hrs later... "As you have probably seen in the FAQ section under the calculator, the formula used by the calculator was created by Dr. Frit...

Re: vo2 max calculator illogical results
This has bugged me, so I had a look around. On the C2 Website, it states the formula used for the calculation. I have plugged that into a spreadsheet, and my implementation of that formula outputs the same (faulty-looking) results as the C2 website implementation - I've tried to share it so anyone c...

Re: vo2 max calculator illogical results
Just came onto the forum looking for information on the same persiting erroron the c2 website.
Is it as simple as them getting "highly trained" and "Not Highly Trained" the wrong way around in their formula? - that's what it looks like to me.
Did Concept2 ever respond?

Re: Ungamable C2 settings for a Tabata workout?
Usefulness of Tabata workouts aside, I don't know why you're making things so complicated with odd and even intervals. You can absolutely set the rest period to 10 seconds. 20s on, 10s off, problem solved. At the end, the monitor will display the total meters for the "on" intervals and discount the...

Re: Ungamable C2 settings for a Tabata workout?
Seems to be a bit of bro-science swirling around but nevertheless, thanks for all the input. As I said, I think I've answered the question I raised, so all good. Just to report back, I had a "proof of concept" (forgive the pun) attempt this morning, and all seems good (bar some minor forced changes)...

That's disappointing to read. Could you link to some sources?aussieluke wrote:It was shown to be not that effective compared to the control group who just did steady work.

You're missing my propensity to try and game any workout!Anth_F wrote:Just start each interval correctly from a standing start once the rest times elapsed!! Then just re-row the session later and try and improve on it... seems straight forward enough to me that way. Unless i'm missing something?
