Re: Shox-Box "vs." Slides
I don't have the Shox-Boxes but am curious what others have found (in regards to low back and/or knee stresses) with raising either the front or back with a simple board etc set up under one end or the other. I've never played around with any of this stuff and am now curious.

The New Alpinism - book
I'm a climber who rows and have been reading the book The New Alpinism. Lots of talk about heart rate training that I'm enjoying - can anyone recommend other good books (articles etc) on the subject? Lots of discussion on the benefits of Zone 1 training for a base etc. Nothing new but I imagine ther...

Re: Is a Concept 2 "good enough" ??
All training should be targeted towards reaching "your" goals and MUST be something you enjoy enough that you will look forward to your workouts - otherwise you simply won't be able to maintain them over a period of years or decades. The Concept 2 is a tool like any other - very good at some things ...

Re: Herniated Disk - what i did wrong and what path to take
I have a litany of low back issues according to my MRI - including 2 herniations - several bulges etc etc . I suggest a reading of Dr. Stuart McGills Low Back Disorders (available at the library here anyway) as well as Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance by the same author - much of his work is al...

Re: Crossfit Games Half Marathon Times
The more I read and the more I see here - erg rowing doesn't necessarily have quite the same skill requirements as OTW. Good form is good form overall but with no oars to catch and no partners to have to stay in sync with - some things can be done differently without the same consequences. It still ...

Who were they and had they been rowers in the past? Either ergs or OTW? Very nice times for non specialists,

OTW versus Erg
I’ve been rowing on the Concept 2 for a fairly long time now – but only recently have I done it with the intention to actually row better times or to take the rowing seriously for rowings sake. Always before it was for general fitness and to do better in my climbing etc. So recently I started readin...

Ashtanga Yoga - David Swenson Short Forms DVD offers a 15 - 30 and 45 minute Yoga workout which I really like.
